July 24: New Chat Application - Only on The App & Still Beta
Hello 7 Cups App Users!
This weekend we are going to launch a fancy new feature! But, this feature is still in beta & we need your help to test it. It will be available ONLY on the app! Everyone is welcome to give it a whirl. Here is how it will work!
What will this feature do?
This feature will allow you navigate between varying conversations and chatrooms much faster. It will give you the ability to easily have more than one conversation going at once. (I have tested it, it is very slick).
At the top of the app, you see a bar with up to 5 of your most recent conversations. The conversations will be indicated with your user picture or the chatroom initials. Only 5 will be listed at one time. Once you hit 6, the 6th will drop back to your regular conversation list.
You will be alerted on this top bar when one of your chats has a new message for you to view. Screenshot here!
You will be able to click through to these conversations very easily from this top bar.

How can I turn it on?
In your account settings, you will need to turn this feature on. If you do not turn it on, you will not be able to participate. If you don't like it, you can turn it off at any time.
Should I expect bugs?
Yup, this is brand new!

Great, we'd love for you to tell us what is working & not working, so we can continue to get it right. Please use this form to file bug reports specifically related to this feature. Remember, if you don't love yet, you can turn it off and go right back to the original app!

apparently I posted that in the wrong place, I will just copy it again here :)
here is little list of differences I noticed on my android device:
- it's just amazing to have the ability to move from one chat to another with that new panel that shows on the top, it's so easy and fast. You need to open more than one chat to see it, and it doesn't show all the times. There were times when I needed to try many times in order to get it.
- There's a little problem while typing. Sometimes if you press "space" and you're a bit late to start typing the next word, the space you entered is erased. So if you don't pay attention, you will end up sendingmessageslikethis.
- I'm not sure of the use of that, but the panel below "containing the icons of chats, forum, goals, and alerts" still shows even when you're typing, and it'd be located above the keyboard, leaving a very little space remaining for the chat itself.
- Speaking of this panel.. If I minimize the app, and while the app is being moved from the mobile screen, the "Goals" icon in the app is replaced by the finding Listeners icon for a second. Of course I could not know where it takes you if you press on it because it happens too fast.
This sounds like a fantastic new feature! I try to use the app from time to time but get frustrated at trying to switch between multiple chats on it. I look forward to testing this out!

Just wanted to post something here that I will report in the form , when you activate the beta test option ,when you are in conversations ,you no longer see the person's profile picture to click on it and delete messages,block,etc. so if you want to use these options you need to deactivate the beta option

I have already reported this, but it seems that it isn't fixed yet (as the last time i tried was now)
so my problem is: that i can't use the beta feature at all
when ever i activate it, head for a chat, click on it, it loads, but, i can't scroll, even when i pull on my kdyboard, or pull it off, it stands still on the first section (portion) of the chat, so i deactivate it again, if it works well with others on android, then i think i will activate it and clear the cache of the app then try again
same thing after i cleared my cache, just noticed that it takes a bit to lead the chat, and that the first message it shows (from the top) is actually the third message when deactivated, still, can't scroll
All beta versions have a part where frustration comes in as they don't work properly - still testing is the status, right?
Mine doesn't load at all - chats, after clicking I want to test it out. So I will wait for the live version or new informations before doing anything else on the app.
Lately when it doesn't load for me, I just quit it and try again and it loads on the second try (fwiw)
Same here , after 2-3 tries it loads !
For me it doesn't work. The page remain totally blank
I can use the chat. It is frustrating

I cant stand the new version! The Alerts/Listeners/Chat/Forum bar is on top of the keypad now, and I can only see at most, 2 posts in the chatroom when I am typing. The screen is basically half covered. And, the FORUM button is way too close to the SEND button and I end up accidentally clicking FORUM and lose the message that I was going to send in chat. Now, for some reason my app wont let me revert back to the Legacy chat. The new version keeps showing up. :(
@Figgy50 When you are checking the option in the settings, are you sure you are clicking on "save modifications" before leaving that page?
I clicked on Revert to old chat version, then I clicked on Save changes.. But it doesn't seem like the save is going through. :(
@Figgy50 can you tell me whether you are on Android or Apple ? I can try to do some testing on my device and give you a fix in the mean time.

@Figgy50 Seems like they removed that options as we realized in the posts below, hopefully that will come back soon or the crashes will be fixed, improvements are coming :D You cna always use your phone's browser meanwhile if the app crashes on you too much (I have a GS4 and its mostly fine)
there are bugs with the navigation bar. you can revert to the old chat UI in your settings until we sort it out if you need to.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn the legacy chat option is no longer present in the app (Im on android amd apple)

hey, I just noticed @ mentions are turning into links here (unless Ace cleverly did it manually)?
trying @ezraBC again to see if it works that way....
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn I just copy paste the name, so it copy pastes the font-weight and the link in it :D
and i was so excited :D
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn that could be useful to have it turn in link automatically, but for now I just copy paste the name in the URL bar, not that annoying I think
since it works that way in the feed we will probably make it that way here eventually...
