Subcommunity Role Titles Update

As a follow up to yesterday's announcement, we are excited to give you even more news about the subcommunity leaderboards and role titles.

Once the update that we can list someone more than once on the same leaderboard goes live, we will be removing the Jr. Community Mentor role title. This role was created so we could list someone who is both a Forum Supporter and Group Mod in the same subcommunity. Going forward, everyone currently listed as Jr. Community Mentor will be listed twice as both a Forum Supporter and a Group Mod.

Additionally, we are excited to announce that we will be bringing more structure to the Community Mentor and Community Mentor Leader Roles.

As a Community Mentor/Community Teen Star, your job is to help support your subcommunity in both the forum and in the group support room. You take on the responsibilities of both a forum mentor and a group mod for your subcommunity and assist the Community Mentor Leader with team communication and organization. We will be launching a new application and form training for this role.

As a Community Mentor Leader, your job will be to coordinate and oversee the daily operations of entire sub-community, ensuring that forums, group support and feed teams collaborate and work together for the betterment of the sub-community. You will work to ensure your sub-community continues to be a place of support, kindness and activity. This will be a project based role, where your project is to take ownership of your sub-community, coordinate with other leaders (including teen leaders if you have them in your SC), participate in group activities and be a reliable friendly face!

Keep an eye out for more information on these roles and restructure coming soon!

It's good to see that the community mentor role will have its own application and training!

This may be kind of off-topic, but, what about the community tracks for non-subcommunity focused projects? Will they still be called community mentors and have their separate application and training?

@Erato

Non-sub-community-focused community stars and mentors will still be called community stars and mentors smiley Back when the community star/mentor leader role was first announced, they re-named it to be the community advocate (leader) role, community advocate being a community star/mentor, and community advocate leader being a community star/mentor leader. They quickly reversed the change, and it's now back to being the community star/mentor (leader) as we see today

@Emily619 I'm aware of this and as far as I can remember the old application form for community tracks was only focused for the non subcommunity based projects since community and jr. Community mentor tracks for subcommunity were only assigned if you have 2 roles at once and wanna be listed in the leaderboard but they have it changed now and have made application form for the community mentor that's for subcommunity focused only.

@Erato

Okay, maybe I was wrong. I double-checked the community application, and it looks like it is only for sub-community-focused tracks now. Is there a separate application for non-sub-community community (whew, what a mouthful!) projects, such as managing an official social media handle, the blog writers' team, the internship project, and so on? Tagging a non-sub-community star @AnyaS

Heyo! Thanks for the tag!! So yes, previously community teen star referred to growth and outreach projects (not subcommunity related - eg: social media).

However, it is now being redefined to align with the adult side. This means that going forward, Community Teen Star & Community Mentor will be 100% subcommunity related.
As for the growth and outreach parts, since I am the only one doing that, nothing will happen for now until we decide what the next steps should be. So I will continue doing my role, but without the title of "Community Teen Star".

I hope that helps clear some things up!

@AnyaS @Emily619 @Kate I believe Social Soldiers, Project Agent Project, Project Blossom, Q&A project, VL team, Welcoming team and the like (I think internship mentor track is being proposed to be on its own track) are also considered as non subcommunity projects and these are still active as well. So I'm hoping that growth track will be brought back to also give attention and acknowledge these projects.
