Hello,

Recently, for the past 2 years, I've been facing issues with finding motivation and focus on school work. This may be because of my mental health but this is beginning to scare me. Up till before the pandemic, I was a straight A student with everything neary 95+. Now my grades are near failing. I want to change this as soon as possible and wanted to ask for advice on how I can change this. Distractions is one issue I have identified that keeps me from getting work done and I think I can act on that, but for focus, I really do not what to do. Same goes for motivation.

@itzzdallas Exercise improves focus.

There are also medicines that help to focus. You can consult your doctor.

I understand how challenging it can be to face a decline in motivation and focus especially when it starts affecting your academic performance. It's commendable that you are proactively seeking advice to improve your situation. Here are a few strategies that might help you regain your motivation and focus:

1. Set clear goals: Establish specific achievable goals for yourself. Break them down into smaller manageable tasks. Having a clear target in mind can help you stay focused and motivated.

2. Create a study routine: Establishing a daily or weekly study routine can provide structure and help you stay on track. Set aside dedicated time for studying and create a productive environment free from distractions. Consistency is key.

3. Find your ideal study environment: Experiment with different study environments to find the one that works best for you. Some people prefer complete silence while others might find background music or ambient noise helpful. Identify what helps you concentrate and create that ideal environment.

4. Prioritize and manage your time effectively: Organize your tasks by importance and urgency. Prioritize the most critical assignments and break them into smaller manageable chunks. Consider using productivity techniques like the Pomodoro Technique which involves working for focused periods (e.g 25 minutes) followed by short breaks.

5. Utilize effective study techniques: Explore different study methods to find what works best for you. These may include summarizing information visual aids like diagrams or flashcards or teaching the material to someone else. Experiment with different techniques until you find what helps you retain information effectively.

6. Seek support: Don't hesitate to reach out for help. Talk to your teachers friends or family members about your struggles. They may provide guidance resources or even just lend a listening ear. Additionally consider speaking with a counselor or therapist to address your mental health concerns.

7. Take breaks and practice self-care: It's crucial to take regular breaks to avoid burnout. Engage in activities that help you relax and recharge such as exercise hobbies or spending time with loved ones. Prioritizing self-care can ultimately improve your overall well-being and motivation.

Remember overcoming these challenges takes time and patience. Be kind to yourself and celebrate even small accomplishments along the way. With perseverance and the implementation of effective strategies you can regain your motivation and focus. If your struggles persist consider seeking professional guidance for further support.
