Being generous with yourself
“You failed again” - “You are not enough” - “Why are you trying anyhow?”
These are some of the things our inner critic is very good at telling or asking us that, with the result of often sabotaging all our efforts to grow.
Being self generous means to comfort ourselves when we need it, it goes beyond just being kind or gentle. The practice of self generosity is an essential part of self-care. It allows us to see the wounds of self-criticism. There are many ways we can be generous to ourselves, like with our time, our love, our patience and by forgiving ourselves when we make a mistake.
To be generous is to give from the heart to meet our own needs. It can be comforting by placing our hands on our heart when we are feeling sad, giving us time to learn step by step without any harsh judgement, giving ourselves compliments and quality me-time to mention just a few things.
Generosity allows us to fill our cup first to be able to help others in need.

How do you practise being generous to yourself, can you give an example? I try to make sure I have enough healthy food to keep my mood up and enough sleep not to get lost in confusion.
Is it easier for you to be generous to others, but harder to be generous with yourself and if so why? I find I have to be generous to myself first to be generous with others.
@amiablePeace77 I think it's a lot easier to be generous with others because I am so hard on myself and I don't treat myself how I would treat others. I don't give myself that grace that I should give myself. In reality, I probably am a little too forgiving of others. I try to remember to be kind to myself and that we all make mistakes! ❤️
