Coping with Singing
Have you ever tried to hum or to sing and think about something negative? It’s really hard! To me it feels like singing is overriding bad thoughts so I consider it as a great coping mechanism.
Today, I like to share some of the benefits of singing and humming which I heard from people, experienced myself and read about. So, here we go 😊
People felt more relaxed, experienced stress reduction
Singing may release endorphins associated with feelings of pleasure as well as stimulate the release of oxytocin, a hormone that is found to alleviate anxiety and stress.
Feeling more energized
It may lead to a stronger diaphragm and stimulation of circulation due to the greater amount of oxygen needed to carry a tune.
It may improve mental alertness since it increases the blood flow to the brain
Singing in a group can decrease loneliness
Singing can improve confidence because it allows you to be yourself, so a wonderful way to nurture yourself
It seems that singing is a natural antidepressant!
How does humming or singing make you feel?
Do you have a favourite song to hum or to sing?
Singing and humming can be wonderful coping skills but sometimes it’s not only about coping but to get to the bottom of problems and that might need professional help.

Do you have a favourite song to hum or to sing? When I am feeling down, I sing an old song from the Great Depression, "Happy Days are here again"
@amiablePeace77 I really like to sing to fun songs when I'm driving in the car! It helps make the driving more bearable! 😄

Hahaha, sitting behind the wheel, letting the words flow out of your mouth to the tune of the song and moving your head to the right and to the left?! 😀
