Dangers of sitting too much!

When you sit, you use less energy than you do when you stand or move but prolonged sitting also can have negative impacts on your health such as increasing the risks of diabetes, heart problems and obesity.

It's important to include regular movement and pauses in your everyday routine to reduce these dangers. Working out often can make you stronger and more flexible, improve your heart health, and also make you happier and less stressed.

Participation question:

What kind of physical activity do you do during the day? Does that feel like enough or do you need to fit more movement into your day?

Seeking Help

Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

I have trouble with my hips and sitting too much makes them hurt worse so I'm pretty active.  I walk the puppy a number of times a day. Work keeps me busy and doesn't give much time to sit. Seasonally there's yard work in the warmer months and snow clean up in the cold months

Keeping active can help to prevent that your hips get worse.
