Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

I've always struggled with fitting in, but I'm slowly realizing that this is mainly due to some deep-rooted insecurities I have with meeting people and establishing friendships. I'm trying to move forward to work on them with the support of my wife. Unfortunately I've tried a few therapists, and it seems that they didn't really know how to deal with my sort of problem. Therefore unfortunately I'm trying my best to move forward on my own for now.

I'm very sorry to hear that you had bad experiences with therapists in the past but glad it did not stop you from joining here and reach out for support. Nice that your wife is supporting you.

I have also had a bad experience with a therapist, feeling like he just didn't get me or where I was coming from...I stopped it after 3 sessions. I have really been thinking about finding another one, but the whole experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I also have been going at it alone, searching the internet and 7cups for what I need. I will say coming here and reading the forums that are somewhat related to what I feel my problems are has helped a great deal. I've found some good advice and ideas from folks who don't even know they have given it just by sharing their experiences and ideas....I hope you can get what you need....
