Hearing and mental health
While often a normal part of aging, hearing impairment can affect your mental well-being. People might be withdrawing from conversations and social situations because it’s too difficult to hear.
Hearing loss can come with a variety of emotional struggles like feeling unsafe, anger or depression and it’s important not to discount these emotions.
Taking care of our hearing is crucial. Here are some ways to protect your hearing
Wear earplugs around loud noises
Turn down the volume on tv or radio
Give your ears a break - enjoy silence
Stop using cotton swabs. Instead use wax removal drops and if needed use a special ear syringe with pure water to flush out any loose wax..
What steps do you take to take care of your ears and preserve your sense of hearing?

Seeking Help
Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

@amiablePeace77 great tips, I might start trying to use ear drops cleaning thingy. Otherwise I already do take care of my ears, I live in a very quiet nursing home, I do play music constantly, but I keep the volume fairly low, cause I don't want to disturb anyone around me. ❤ 😁 I have good ears, but it would be terrifying and scary to loose one of our 5 senses, God bless all those who are ❤❤

I am careful while using headphones because they are so close to the ears they make loud noises even louder.
@amiablePeace77
Thank you for sharing this! After realizing not being able to hear very high-pitched sounds, I usually keep my volume lower than before in the car lol. But is using cotton swabs bad for hearing?

This is an exerpt from the clevelandclinic link (see above) Dr. Honaker advises cleaning your ears only with a washcloth on your finger. No Q-tips®, bobby pins or sharp pointed objects. Those things can injure your ear canal and eardrum.
I rather like to be very careful but of course it's a personal choice. You can find more information here
