How food can help to improve mental health
The link between diet and emotions stems from the close relationship between our brain and our gastrointestinal tract, often called the “second brain.” What we eat impacts how we feel physically, but also emotionally.
When you stick to a diet of nutrient-rich foods like fruits, vegetables and adequate protein, that help brain functioning. You’re setting yourself up for fewer mood swings and an improved ability to focus.

Seeking Help
Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

@amiablePeace77 when I eat lots of carbs my mental healthy symptoms are worse.
@soulsings
I hear you soul, eating a low-carb diet is better for me too. A high carb diet can make it more difficult to manage emotions.
@amiablePeace77 I am not sure but I think a low carb diet produces less imflammation in the body. My joints feel better.
@amiablePeace77. Um. I um. Yes well. Ok so I eat sometimes. Eating is a big issue for me. It's trauma related, which I am in therapy for, but it's a ongoing battle. So I do eat healthy when I eat. Except icecream and coffee, but those are delicious 😋 so its ok to eat delicious things😁

Think about how you feel most days and think of the foods you eat. How do you see them affecting each other?
To be fair, I haven't seen much change in my mood based on what I eat. that may be cause my diet consists of pretty much the same foods each week.
In what ways could you experiment with a healthy diet to see how it affects your moods?
I could try out different kinds of food for a few weeks perhaps.
@KateDoskocilova would you say you eat a lot of carbs or not? I find less carbs means I have more energy and not so sluggish.
@soulsings i guess I do? i just pretty much eat what's at home, to be fair
@KateDoskocilova I added more veggies that are low in carbs and more protein like eggs or tofu or yogurt and I found I improved my moods. I think for me I am more sensitive to carbs.
