Have you ever felt totally absorbed in a book - getting lost in the story? Reading is the ultimate form of escapism. You can jump into a whole new world and be any character of the book you want!

One of the benefits to reading is simply that it provides enjoyment and pleasure, keeps our brains sharp, expands our world views and allows us to grow as individuals. Reading also can help distract us from negative or intrusive thinking we might be experiencing and help us to relax.

But there is more!. Stories about other people can teach us a lot about how to handle situations, what to do and what not to do. Reading is a stress relief!

Participation question:

  • What book had the biggest impact on your life and why?
  • What book would you recommend to a friend?
  • How has reading impacted your life?

Exercise:

Take note of how you feel before and after you start reading in your book. Have you been able to let go of some of your stressors?

@soulsings

Some books can have a great impact on us. Rumi has definitively some very deep quotes (haven't read his books only quotes).

  • What book had the biggest impact on your life and why? I think the book that had the biggest impact on my life is Diary of Anne Frank. I read it in 8th grade and the story speaks volumes. I am so happy it was able to be published. The part that made me sad was how abruptly it ended 😞
  • What book would you recommend to a friend? A book I would recommend to a friend is A Court of Thorns and Roses! It's from BookTok and it's such a good series!
  • How has reading impacted your life? I have always loved reading since I was really little! It's been an enjoyment and coping skill my whole life :)

@fruityPond7887 Diary of Anne Frank was a tragic story.

Another story about WWII with a somewhat happier ending for at least one man was Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning about the concentration camps and how he survived in amazing twists of fate.
