What is something unexpected and kind you can do for someone today?
I gave some veggies away and hope people will enjoy them. It made also me feel good about myself since I strongly believe we all need to help each other more in this world.

@soulsings Something that I like to try and do every day to make people's day just a little better is hold doors open for others! It's such a little thing, but it speaks volumes because you took the time to notice someone and do something kind for them!
@fruityPond7887 yes that is such a wonderful thing. Sometimes people insist on opening the door for me and so I let them because it gives them joy.

@fruityPond7887 receiving a gift from others can be a way of giving them the gift of giving. I try to be appreciative when people shower me with praise. Same idea, give them the gift of appreciating another.

My brother-in-law who is 17 came out to me first about 2 years ago and I encouraged him to tell his brother, my husband, which he did after I assured him he would have the same reaction I did...a huge hug, telling him how much I love him and how proud I was of him and grateful that he trusted me to tell me something soo private but also who he is...my husband reacted almost identical to mine. We were sworn to secrecy because he didn't think his dad would be remotely ok with it and he's still terrified of him finding out, he wasn't sure about his mom who initially after finding out claimed it was a phase, but is fully accepting of him now. We didn't know that then, though so he asked if he could come to us if he needed advice or literally anything but in particular he said he preferred talking to me and we said of course, anytime 24/7. He started dating his first boyfriend a few months later, and was ecstatic to tell me about him, we actually held hands and jumped up and down lol.
They broke up last night. His boyfriend graduated last year so it was long distance since school started (they are about an hour away from each other) and they were supposed to see each other this weekend, but he told him that he met someone else in the middle of dinner at a restaurant...I was the only call he made, his brother went to get him and I told his mom what happened but also that he's starting with us until he's ok to go home considering the fear of his dad finding out. I've known him since before he was born technically, I met my husband a few months before he was born so she knows I'm protective of him and will make sure he's ok and help him become ok because I held him before his dad (he was deployed when he was born, he's retired from the military now, though).
I'm not sure if spending my day watching tik tok, which I don't use or really have any desire to check it out, but it's what he wanted to do to distract himself so we watched it for hours until he fell asleep, he didn't sleep much last night because he was crying and too upset...I don't know if trying to get him through his first breakup counts as kind, it's my responsibility because I love him, but tik tok was definitely unexpected
@K87 listening to your brother and being with him in a difficult time is very kind in my opinion. You have given him a wonderful gift.
Would your brother consider joining 7 Cups where there is an LGBTQ community that could also be of support to him?

I doubt it, he sees a therapist and psychiatrist already against his will, and has been for most of his life. He's more interested in video games than talking about his feelings

I don't actually know how to play any games except hogwarts mystery on my phone and I don't have any game consoles, but he's getting hogwarts legacy mainly because I'm excited about it and I can't play it because I don't have anything to play it on and he'll bring it over or I'll be visiting my in-laws a lot more lol
My mother-in-law knew it was really for me when he asked for it, she said yes, but he has to wait until the next time she gets paid

I agree, ever since he was born, we've been really close. My mother-in-law has 6 boys and has been like a mother to me, especially because I don't have a relationship with my own mother (her choice). 2 of my brotherin-law's are on the autism spectrum and are devolpmentally delayed. My husband has 1 older brother who in almost 18 years has been in and out of jail soo often, I haven't had a chance to meet him. The age difference between the oldest and youngest is 24 years, and only my husband has actually met the oldest but hasn't seen him since he was barely 12. My father-in-law recently retired from the military, but spent most of his son's lives deployed (he volunteered) and my husband, along with his mom, basically raised his younger brothers. I helped with the 2 youngest, the one who I'm incredibly close to and one of the two on the spectrum who was less than 2 when I met him.
Great test for potential gfs/bfs...have a 1 night stand and tell them the following morning 2 of ur brother's are on the spectrum and see how they handle it lol. I joke that that's what my husband did, which is true, but it wasn't a test, it would've been a great one, though. Thankfully, I knew enough about autism to know that there's nothing "normal" hence the spectrum and I wanted them to be comfortable with me so I followed their lead. Thankfully, the eldest (he had it worse than the younger one at the time) has improved dramatically, he's considering moving out (he's 26) which is something that never seemed like a possibility. Sadly, the younger one is a lot worse than predicted (he's 18, but his delay makes him closer to 10-ish), he's an amazing cook, though, and both hate going out so I don't see them as often as I used to (my in-laws moved another 15 minutes away, so they are now like 40 minutes away and neither my husband or I drive because we live in the city and sold our car when we moved here years ago, also I failed the test at 16, thank God, I'm terrified of driving and horrible at it so I couldn't drive regardless), but whenever I do get to see them, they are both sweet and everything, but the youngest is always soo excited to see me that he hugs me and always picks me up despite knowing I hate it because he can and it only lasts for maybe 10 minutes before he goes back to whatever he was doing, he prefers to be alone, but I swear it's the best 10 minutes ever lol
Invite a lonely neighbor over to eat or for game night 😊
@EPstar yes or even calling or visiting a neighbor can be good for them and you.
