I would agree with this somewhat. I would agree that sometimes, thoughts do determine behavior. However there are some times that is not the case.

If the behavior is thought based, then I definitely agree that in order to change the behavior, we do have to change the thinking

@KellyBrastMA I agree thoughts often form our actions.

For me anger is an issue. So in that case when the angry thoughts start to arise, I find it works for me to sideline them rather than changing them to non angry thoughts. So we may agree on this already and I maybe being picky about the meaning of change, but that is what works for me.

I find I need to monitor my thoughts like a forest ranger looking for smoke as an early sign of a dangerous fire. I try to put out the fire or not even let them get started.
