Getting older
I’ve been dealing with a lot of stress about getting older and becoming an adult. I recently turned 18 and I still have time in school, it just feels like I’m not a kid anymore and it kinda tears me apart that I’ll be leaving this carefree life behind. I’ve been having so much fun these recent years and I feel like new responsibilities and challenges that come with adulthood are going to make it not nearly as fun as well as break up the friends that I have right now. It honestly scares me when I think about aging just because I think I need to have everything planned out and executed by a certain time. I’ve honestly never been able to picture myself being any older than 20 just because it’s such a foreign thought. I know I’m probably overreacting and I just need to take it slow, but it’s just been on my mind too much lately.
thank you all and hope you all have a wonderful day/night

Becoming an adult can be overwhelming and stressful. I hear you. Many can relate to being stress about having everything figured out and 'adulting.' I can promise you that you are not alone in that. You're not overreacting. It is a very valid concern for many! Perhaps, practicing some mindfulness exercises may help with being present in the moment and not overthinking. <3💛💫
@Smithly918 I hear you. Thinking of leaving a carefree world into the unknown can be stressful to think of.
I'm 35+ now and looking back I can tell you imagining yourself being older can make us feel uneasy when we start to picture negative things about the future
I don't know if this image helps you but the probably most carefree time is at least 18 years ago. The only responsibility you had was eat, drink and sleep. Your grew older and your seem to feel comfortable with you teen-age. You have much more responsibilities now compared to your baby times. Still you see things having now that you value.
In this journey to adulthood you'll meet a lot of people on a similar journey and others who have experienced the things you struggle with and they can relate.
I believe in you, you'll be ready for this this journey and you can reach out for support when you need it.
@Smithly918 one thing that was hard for me to handle is to get over the idea that I am invincible and I will live forever. As a child there is a faith that everything will be all right and my parents will take care of everything. Then I went out on my own and saw how tough life could be.
