Everyone has different interests and things they enjoy and appreciate. Listening to others helps me understand people more by listening to how they see life.

What I find fascinating is watching the mind and how it works. When I see angry thoughts pop up and I identify with them, then anger usually takes over and I totally identify with anger. In one sense, I become anger.

But when I say "wait a minute, let's hold on and not react to that thought" then I can stop before I let anger take over. Or I can diminish the outburst and or how long it lasts.

That I can actually rewire my brain by practising mindfulness. The practise of mindfulness can help me to shrink an overly developped fight and fly response (amygdala) so I can respond better to challenges, less fearful, it can help me to connect with my feelings so that I better understand and accept myself and to develop more gratitude to see what's good in life.

@soulsings How much I love being a leader here at 7cups, and how open I am to new ideas.

That's the funny thing.... I could count on the fingers of ONE hand the times I really got angry at my late husband to the point of hurting myself (bone broken) or sending my supervisor to get our director in panic at work when my heavy phone crashed on my office door. I felt then very much in my right and never regretted those instances. A third time, I was assaulted by an entire hockey team in a locker room and by the time someone came to my rescue, I had broken the shin bone of one of the guys who had just slapped me... with my skate. A fourth time was also physical assault when I was 12 and the other kid ended up with a broken nose when he was about to stomp on my face with his skate. So yes, I believe I can be fierce when push comes to shove. I just can't remember a fifth time...

I feel disappointed with others at times, but the feeling is more like sadness and anxiety. It could well be that anger is only one expression of grief among others. BTW, :D :D getting angry with my sons as they were growing up does not count. I am perfectly fine with my grandkids and other children. My little sister has burst-outs and needs to spit venom once in a while, but I don't engage at all, which must frustrate her. I let it slide and wait, even if she never apologizes. I have a brother who could be my mental twin and even better, his four daughters cannot remember him EVER getting angry at them or any one.

I feel like I overshared, but comments are welcome.

@soulsings When somebody does something confusing, a behavior or a thought pattern, it becomes a scavenger hunt to get into their mindset. I'll pick up books to try to find patterns to understand so I can better empathize the next time around.

I find it to be fascinating that everybody goes through emotions but people are still judged when showing them or even experiencing them

@soulsings Something I find really fascinating is all of the cultures that this world has to offer. There are so many places to visit, food to try, and people to meet! It's so interesting how different people are, but the fact that we all have the same core values; to be loved and cared for. I love to see all the different ways different cultures prepare food!

@soulsings You are right! It is absolutely fascinating how every one has their own ways of seeing life like no other. I love talking to people about their views of life too.
