Small silly things
Ever feel caught up in work work work?
Feeling pressure to use every minute effectively?
Afraid to do something that might seem wrong or foolish to others?
Or have a guilty conscience over wasting time or resources?
A life of being productive and useful can be fulfilling, but can also feel empty and joyless.
There's definitely value in having fun, just for the sake of having fun.
Of letting off steam.
Or letting our inner child express itself.
I was discussing this with someone else on 7 cups and thought it might be fun to collect a list of harmless silly things people have done, or could do, to express their inner child. Maybe we can inspire each other to a light hearted moment.
Don't be shy. Anything goes. If it gave you a moment of joy without harming anyone, it's valid.
Here's one to start things off:
As an adult, spray painting flowers on the drive.

What a wonderful idea this thread is Clio, thank you!
I like to gather shells to create pictures or use them for decoration purposes.

Love this 😁
Spent today with slime and glitter in my hair! Sliding down slides, being pushed on a swing, eating ice cream, laughing until there was tears in my eyes and it was brilliant!
Also, being rolled down a hill 😂
The first part: me all the time.
Inviting people to join me on a free-book collecting spree! Hehe

Books. There's something so special about a free book. And sharing that treasure with others, perfect.
Reminds me of the scholastic book fair as a kid. Did you have those too? I LIVED for when the paper flyers came out. I still remember the smell. Or how excited I'd be when the orders came in.
Now the adult version of that is the local book swap. Oh, how I love it. Its at our local flea market and I make a day of it, getting candy, a craft soda, maybe breakfast or lunch and FREE BOOKS!
Making bubbles with chewing gum! 😃
I made magical chalk drawings on the sidewalk once. A hamster in an inner tube in a "pool" in the crack in the sidewalk. All the kids came around to watch, and i let them have the chalk to make flowers, gardens, hearts stars, rainbows. I love seeing kids ideas come to life. I also bought a bubble machine and let them pop them all. We did a "drive in" movie night (I live in a townhouse development where all our patios back up into a main lawn). I set my 75" TV up outside, popped buckets of popcorn, set up my sound system and we all set up lawn chairs to watch Moana on a Friday night. One Friday night, I built a blanket fort. set up pillows, TV, snacks, blankets, coloring books and my dog. Sometimes I still hang upside down on the sofa and imagine walking on the ceiling. I still dress up for Halloween even though my son is 21 now. I still remember his invisible flying car (laundry basket) making its first flight to the north pole to help deliver presents Christmas eve when Santa's sleigh broke down. He loved Legos and pirates, and this purple pirate stuffed bear that he named Stinker Bear, or Capt Tink for short. I did a story of capt tink for him, called Captain Stink Air Bear, the stinkiest pirate of the 7 seas (he hated baths).
Thank you for reminding me to remember joy and love.
