What Do You Wish People Knew About Your Mental Health
What Do You Wish People Knew About Your Mental Health
Living with mental health challenges sadly often means dealing with misconceptions or feeling misunderstood.
If you could tell others just one thing about your experience, what would it be?
Maybe it’s something people get wrong.
Maybe it’s something they never ask.
Maybe it’s what you wish someone had said to you or perhaps something else!
Please share below if you feel comfortable to do so. I look forward to reading your contributions and discussing such an important topic. 🌻

I wish my mom finally understood what i have a light depression, its not like im just "lazy". Im scared to talk with her about it, so just hoping what she will understand it by herself...
@Nitrolysizzz
I can only imagine how hard it might be for you not telling her the truth about how you feel! I hope one day soon you can let her know and she will understand why you just can't do more at times.
@LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS Just as I have had a great deal of success managing my mental health so too can everyone else.
@LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS It's hard you feel happy for other people but not for yourself
@Rainbowsmile8
That sounds like a really challenging experience to feel happy for others but not for yourself. I hope in time, you can find some of that happiness within, but I know it's a journey and one that involves lots of self-care. I'm glad you're sharing here with us at 7 Cups as that can make it feel a little easier when we share how we are really feeling.
I Have autism, If I am wanting someone to get away from me, and I am literally getting upset, Because they are bugging me, It is a meltdown, You being near me only makes me worse, I WILL CALM DOWN ON MY OWN, people don't need to keep bugging me, Trying to get me to do stuff will only irritate me, Most people I know that have autism struggle with demands, they need to feel like they have a choice, I am high functioning, yes, But I still have autism, being high functioning doesn't just get rid of it completely.
That’s it’s real and everyone different we all deal with life differently mental health is something that takes time to heal we don’t just get over it and move on

i wish people would stop saying “just deal with one thing at a time. It’ll help”
it does not in fact help and after trying so long to take it one step and day at time, the constant being ran over feeling finally takes over. The tiredness feeling of all of this takes a bigger toll than I like to admit. I wish people knew that.
I wish people knew that I’m scared to share here. That I constantly want to hide…
this is specifically to my mother. i hate that i can’t tell her nothing. maybe im scared. i really don’t know. but i did tell her one thing and she completely denied the fact i could have it (a whole different story). but i wish she would know that im not overly dramatic and definitely not hypochondriac (not that i think i am). i wish she knew that this is really important and serious to me. i wish she knew the backstory. i wish she knew that she DOES NOT know everything about me and my life. i wish she knew that i was never asked to be born, it’s a gift that good put me into this world with these specific people and that loving me and listening to what i have to say is NOT a chore but simply just being a mother and not someone who HAS to provide me with necessities. i wish she knew that i am mentally unavailable at times. i wish she could tell when im having bad days, causing her to put less pressure on me. i wish she knew to stop comparing my teen days to her teen days because she had her teen days back in the day and im living my teen days in the 21st century, meaning things were completely different back then for her then for me and i get it that she lived rough back then and i should be grateful with the things i have now and i am ! i wish she knew that im not the person who she thinks i am. i am more than what the eyes can see. and as a reminder: i love my mother really much. even though she makes A LOT of mistakes, no one is perfect and im not expecting her to be or reach anyones expectations. shes been threw a lot too ! maybe more than i have. but shes had things in her life that brung her joy. which breaks the line of our differences. i have no one. at least not at the moment. my mother has been abused. i have not. and i really admire my mother for still being strong ! as much as her mental health isnt okay, mine isnt either. and i wish she knew that shes not the only one and that she would listen to me and give me the support that i wish i could receive.. that i never do receive.
