Best restaurants
My favorite restaurant was a Thai restaurant, I just loved the food (vegetarian). It had a great, full-bodied taste and the presentation was almost a piece of art to me. Loved to go there, sadly it is too far away now (in a different country) so I started to cook my own Thai-type food regularly.

@amiablePeace77 My favorite restaurant is a sushi place right near my house! It has the freshest sushi and we have been going there for years! The same lady greets us every time and it's just the best! ❤️

I used to be a regular customer of a chinese restaurant with a huge buffet. During Covid all those disappeared. So I started cooking for myself. I make onion pancakes, egg foo yong, stir fried veggies, chili, meatless meatloaf, scones, pancakes.
Sorry I only have one table for one and it is reserved for a special person ---------- me lol !
@soulsings
You have a home buffet and it's Chinese cuisine! 😮 I'm on my way with the rest of 7cups people and tables! 😋

This reminds me of a new perspective I obtained after moving to a different country.
I used to live in France. All my life the food I had just seemed food. I mean I loved it, and I loved cooking and baking and was celebrated for my talent and efforts, but it was just normal life.
Now I live in the UK. It has been a brutal cultural shock for me. A lot of what I considered basic ingredients are unavailable (or hard to find) and when available, at unreasonable prices.
Unlike other european countries I visited, the local food is not one I could see myself eating on a daily basis.
In 2 years I grew :
- Thankful for any food to my taste! Every pleasant meal almost feel like a little miracle of its own!
- Extra savvy in navigating how to find good food in England! I know all the ethnic shops in my area, which supermarket sells what in detail, and when/where to get the right discounts ahah.
- So thankful for my cooking skills,
- Eternally grateful to have grown surrounded by such delicate, rich and healthy textures, smells, cooking habits, recipes... that my palate is such a precise and delicate one.
- Eternally resentful to be French : had I grown up in the UK I wouldn't even know what I'm missing out on 😝
@WhenTheTimeComes wow you are adapting well to new culture and maintaining your French cooking as well.
@soulsings
I wish I were adjusting to a new culture with grace but for me, it involves a lot of ranting with other immigrants about the food we miss and complaining to my flatmate who is British (and has adopted my French eating habits) about the lack of ingredients and the need for me to improvise 🙊😅

My favorite restaurant for a loooonnngggg time was a Guyanese/Chinese fusion restaurant. But then new owners took over and the food quality went down.

It's tough when a beloved restaurant changes owner and the food changes to the worse. Hope you will find another good one in your surroundings. Have you tried to cook some of the things on your own, sometimes it works pretty well and there are quite good cooking turtorials on youtube!
There was a hibachi place that I used to go to for special occasions with family or friends. Not only is the food incredible, it’s an experience with people that you can share and I love that. One person puts on a whole show for people and you get to eat his incredible food. Lots of memories were made there.

Well I have an Asian wife so I don’t need to go to a restaurant 😀😀
She can make nice food. For me presentation is so important also. I don’t like the food if it’s ugly. My favorite place is an italian restaurant. They have the best pizza.
