I hope you're all have a good start of the week ❤️

Some time ago I went into my garden and here he was! A big monkey sitting on my chair underneath the tree enjoying a big passion fruit 🙈. He was looking at me, I was looking at him, we were both kind of frozen but he did not seem to be afraid at all rather more reluctant to free the space. He left though but not before giving me a long stare! 😊

What kind of memories of the funniest animal encounter either you had or someone else had? If someone of the web please give credit to the site and leave a link to that article.

@amiablePeace77 Hahaha I love this! My college campus has this aggressive squirrels everywhere! They would dig for trash in the trash cans and jump out expectedly. They would scare the crap out of me! I have so many videos of me and my roommates getting scared by them 😂

It would be so neat to live around monkeys. What a great experience that would be. Thanks for sharing, Ami. I enjoyed your story.

Pond, squirrels are something else, aren't they? It's cool that you were able to capture that on video.

There used to be a wild deer that would follow me around when I was a child. We never figured out why. One day it just didn't come back. My parents said that it grew up and made its own family. They were probably just trying to make me feel better, but I hope they were right.

Maybe that deer was just looking for company but found another deer.

As a kid we lived at a lake and a mallard duck would stay around all summer by the lake all by themselves. Somehow the neighbor managed to catch them in the fall before everyone left for the season and bring them to a farm for the winter and pick them up in spring and put in lake again. I wonder who paid to feed him all winter!

@amiablePeace77. I went to the zoo where they allowed you to feed the giraffes with food provided by the zoo. There was a special platform for the visitors that was several feet off the ground next to the giraffe enclosure. I stood on the platform with green leafy 🥬 vegetables in my hands. 2 giraffes saw and approached me. I’ll never forget how their super long tongues came out of their mouths to grab the veggies, 🦒

Wow branch, I guess only that experience alone already made it worth to the zoo! I have never been so close to giraffes but would love too!

I love this thread. What a great and positive start to the week reading funny stories about animals! :) I can imagine the monkey sitting watching you peacefully right now. :) What type of monkeys are they?

When I lived in South Africa, we would often get visits from vervet monkeys that I found very cute and entertaining (until they raided my cupboard one day!). I remember going into my bedroom and I found a monkey in my wardrobe... it makes me laugh now but it was quite a surprise at the time! The monkey ended up leaving my house and didn't seem that surprised by me opening the wardrobe!

Feeling better starts with a single message. Check out my profile and reviews.

@LisaMeighanMBPsS

Lol Lisa, it sounds so funny what you describe but right in the moment back then it might also have felt scary. From what I read the vervet monkey and green monkey are very similar, just a little difference in the whiskers, colour of hand, feet and tail. They are adorable but can cause quite a damage in a home when they feel threatened. Seems your's was feeling comfy going in and out your wardrobe 😄

Btw did he take any of your clothing with him?

hahaha soul. Yesterday a monkey was at the same place (not sure if same monkey) but something must have scared him so he seemed to have left in an urgentcy leaving a mango behind him! 😊 I could not believe it! I put the mango down to ripen now, yay!

@amiablePeace77 so i was around 16 going on a midnight walk with my partner at the time. it was a quiet area, only a couple street lights which made it hard to see, and almost silent. suddenly, in the distance under a street light, i saw an animal running away. it was too big to be a squirrel, too small to be a dog or cat, its shape didn't make sense, i just had never seen it before. my heart dropped into my stomach and fight or flight hit, i don't know why i got so scared but i was unnecessarily afraid for my life lol. anyway, we got a bit closer and then we realized... it was a skunk. i was still shocked because i had never seen one before and i didn't know they ran so fast?? i honestly was more scared than the time i came within feet of a baby bear. i have weird priorities

i've been waiting to tell this story somewhere, great question by the way :-)

@batskullls I am not scared of skunks as long as they are 100 feet away.

User Profile: amiablePeace77

@batskullls

I find at night when it's so dark my senses are highly alert when I go outside so I can well imagine how scary it must have felt. Baby bears look sooo cute and I believe that's why people might get less scared of them. I hope the skunk did not use their "defense weapon" 😊
