Coping with my emotions by writing poetry
There are many times in my life when I feel like I'm standing at the edge of a cliff, on an unsteady rock, peering down into the bowels of ***, and all I want to do is step off that rock, and plummet towards whatever fate awaits me.
I know I have to save myself, from myself at these times, so I write poetry to express my feelings and emotions; poetry that is dark, dismal and morbid to the point where anyone reading it would be tempted to say, "My god she needs help!"
It's all I have at times, along with my tears, to release the pressure of my life so I can go on to see the next day.
Not all of my poetry is dark. Some of it is very uplifting when I'm having a good moment in life, but these poems are far apart, and few at best.
My feminine soul is always crying out to those who will listen, and those who do have saved me so many times, I owe them a debt I can never repay....Nichole

I'm glad you've found a good outlet to help you process 💛

@Amanda84, Thank you so much for the virtual hug. There are times where I need one every day though i know I wont get one. You have a kindred soul, and have brought a smile to my soul today....🫂

I do the same thing, I love poetry so much. It is a really good way to process and cope with hard emotions and situations. Often you can put the things you can't say out loud into metaphors, and it makes it easier to express. One thing I always say, is that sometimes the only way to survive an emotion is to give it a place to live, and paper is a great place :)
@insightfulEyes3026 , I'm often afraid of what I'd do without my poetry to relieve the pressure that is constantly building inside me. Being able to paint a vivid portrait everyone can visualize in their minds through my words, brings me joy when I receive thoughtful comments from strangers.
Thank you for your kindness to me, and for putting this smile on my face....🫂

For sure, not having an outlet for your emotions (and creativity!) to go into can make everything build up until it pops. Writing is genuinely an amazing art form, as both reading and writing it is healing. I hope you have a great day! :)

for me writing poems is my way of saying the things i can not come right out and say even within my abuse for many years i used writing poems as away to say what i could not say in any other way to me many times it was and is a life saver the power of writing is great and when others hear what between the lines of a poem they truly hear one who wrote them also for me writing poems is away of showing emotions i was not allowed to show in my life
yes some can be very dark but others when one is healing can give hope within the lines to others and self
@stormieandpaws. I agree that our poetry is often the only way we have to express our feelings and emotions, because we have nobody else within our immediate universe with whom we feel safe enough to trust with our hearts and souls.
I'd love to read some of your poetry should you ever feel safe enough to share with me. I'll be sharing many more of mine with this community over time, because it does help me when I share the pain of my soul with so many others, who may or may not have lived a life that I have been forced by society to live.
