When was one time this past year that you did the right thing, even when it was difficult?
With my sister it is not easy when I react to what she says so I managed not to cause any major upsets during the times we had to work together to straighten things out.
@amiablePeace77 My partner's family has no desire to communicate effectively to learn boundaries, and when I would angrily express boundaries, they would repeatedly violate them (I am angry, so I do not deserve respect, kind of dynamic). My partner and I went no contact with them, and they violated a boundary for a final time. I chose not to get angry, and just ignore them and never speak to them again.
About 6 months later, I felt compelled to send a handmade postcard, to end things for myself on the right foot.
This is what the card said on one side:

And on the other side, it said:
Thinking of you and sending love. Big hug, (my name)
No idea how they perceived this, because there was no response (which seems telling enough...). But, I sleep better at night, with this being my last memory of my last interaction with them. 🙂
@niceSea1350 great that you tried to make things right with them. Your attitude is wonderful. Do what you feel is right in your heart.
@soulsings Thank you so much for the acknowledgement. Many tears shed over this, and healing now. Sending you lots of love and appreciation for this encouragement 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I didn't know what to buy at a store for self care so I asked for help instead of just leaving or buying something I didn't want.
@communicativePond1728 that sounds like you took the first stpe to self care, admitting I need help!
@soulsings
Is that only the first step? I mean I took a lot of steps :( I recognized I needed help, and I asked for it, and then I followed through..that's like three steps and all that are really necessary! There may be improvements on each step but I did them all.
@communicativePond1728 I keep telling myself I am doing the best I can.
@soulsings
I'm worried that will excuse behaviour instead allowing understanding, respect and love if used improperly and as an escape.
@amiablePeace77
Forgave someone who pretended they hadn't gutted me with their criticism.
@neatBlueberry5213 letting go helps me recover from the wound. It does not condone the action but helps me see that that person is not inherently evil just acting under destructive tendencies. I feel bad for them for how miserable they are acting like that and creating habitual tendencies that can cause misery in the future.
