If I could choose again where to live I might most probably choose the same place where I am now - on an island in the Caribbean. Something that always attracted me was sunny weather and lush tropical nature.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? What are the characteristics of that place that attract you (people, employment, weather, nature, etc)

@amiablePeace77 Ami, your home sounds like an amazing and beautiful place to live! If I could live anywhere, it would be the state that I currently live in but down at the shore! I love my state and I don't want to move away from it. What's important to me are my roots and that I am surrounded by those that I love! ❤️ What's the point of living in a nice place if you can't enjoy it with your loved ones?

Interesting question for an expatriate who recently repatriated back to France after 48 years of living abroad (Japan, USA and Canada).

No matter where you are, you just adapt. The way you eat, you dress, and you speak. You might want to "go home" again once in a while, often with half your suitcase in gifts from the country where you now live, and half your own country on the way back.

I was often asked where I'd rather live, "here" or back in my country and I could not answer. There were pros and cons everywhere. If I had an answer, I would probably feel sad.

@Fradiga

I so agree, every country has its pros and cons, there is no perfect country, it's about adaptation.

@amiablePeace77 I have tried many different places and I ended up back where I grew up. I think the four seasons are very close to the cycle of life. I guess I am attached to the familiarity. Good question.

I find this amusing to see today. After many years of discussion about retirement my husband has changed our retirement plans. My happy place is closer to where I grew up, the mountains. I am so disappointed in our change and it is causing me anger toward my husband. I see myself by a creek, a beautiful view of the forest. Wildflowers in the summer, snow blanketed fields in the winter.

Without a doubt, it would have to be near Lake Erie. I have such fond memories of the lake and the beach. The waves of the water breaking on the beach, the sun beating down on the sand; warming your feet. The blue, blue, sky. The out-of-this-world sunrises and sunsets. The picnics and grilling on the beach with my family. I need a place that reminds me of happy times. And this place does that for me. 🏊

@MiniMenet7 I hope you find such a place. I searched a lot and found that the place I was looking for that was so peaceful outside was actually right here inside, I just needed to find it and cultivate it. I think that is where mindfulness is leading us.
