What do you love about where you live?
I believe every place has its own beauty, its special character. Something I really love about where I live is that there are certain areas which feel very peaceful. Places where mother nature is not disturbed by traffic or big buildings.

@amiablePeace77 Where I live, we are close to 3 major cities, we have mountains and beaches, and we have 4 seasons! I enjoy it because there's always something to do and there's always variety! 😊

I don't "love where I live". The only good things I can say about this location is most of what I need is within walking or cycling distance, & raw materials for some of the projects I do aren't difficult to find. But those are the only positive features. My aptmt complex isn't the worst neighborhood I've lived in but it's not the best by a long shot...there have been many vehicle break-ins here in recent months. The leasing office is keen on collecting rent but that's it; if you put in a service call then you're lucky if the maintenance staff gets to it in a timely fashion. A few of the residents own pit bulls, which always make me nervous.
Wish I could be more positive, but I cannot lie about how this place is.

Being able to get what you need within walking or cycling distance sounds great and I bet saves a lot of traffic stress when having to take the car and so much cheaper too!
Sorry though that some things are not so good, it's really hard to find a place without any challenges. I hope the police gets a grip on those break-ins!

@slowdecline48 your very lucky your necessities are so easily attainable. And how awesome that you can recognize there's still positive amidst so much negative.
And kudos to you for, again, seeing the silver lining: in this case you're not in the best place, but not in the worst, either!
But I can certainly empathize with living somewhere that's not the best I've lived in by far. I went from a 5 bdrm, game room, family room, pool, huge kitchen, 3 car garage, two fireplace, laundry room, 3 bath, beautiful house, to where I'm at now: homeless and camping in the woods.
But this isn't about me.
I actually wanted to reply to your comment about the neighboring Pitt Bulls. I've owned a Pitt Bull/Labrador mix who was THE sweetest dog ever. I also know one who is an angel, and the gentlest soul that ever graced this Earth.
Now, I can't comment on the dogs you refer to, but i implore you to not assume the worst based on a reputation gained by lowlife people who trained their animals to be fighters and killers, or who just couldn't devote the time and energy to show their animal love, patience, training, and affection.
Pitt Bulls are not born as killers. They're made.
But i do absolutely understand your nervousness.
I hope you'll be in a position to leave this place you detest soon, my friend. 🌹

PS: Not sure where you're at, but in the United States what's happening at your apartment building isn't legal. There's a name for it, and that is "Slum Lord".
Here you have the option of fixing whatever's wrong yourself (if possible) and reducing your rent by whatever you pay for in materials. Unfortunately, you can't bill for labor though. 🥀

This is an example of why I try not to complain too much about my situation, blue...at least in public/online. I could b***h about it every day but that's pointless. No matter who you are or where you are, there is always someone who has it worse. That is one thing I've learned in my time on this planet so far. I'm a chronic guy, too...I have conditions that will never go away. One limits my life, sometimes severely. But since my diagnosis I've met a few other chronic people online & I know that I am one of the lucky ones. There are people out there in excruciating pain who pass their days in wheelchairs. Or in bed.
Re pit bulls: I will not get into a debate because this isn't the place for it. All I'll say is that I'm happy your dog is such a wonderful creature, & am glad you have him in your situation. (If I was homeless I'd want a dog too, even with all the upkeep) But my position re Pit Bulls (& large, short-faced big-jawed breeds in general) is the result of a few experiences which I won't rehash here plus some research into bite & fatality stats, breed histories (training is only half the equation, at most) & a refusal to buy into the blank slate fallacy--for dogs, humans, or any other complex organism.

I admire your positive thinking despite your chronic challenges "o matter who you are or where you are, there is always someone who has it worse". The more we give in to our pains the more they might affect us but I know it's much easier said that dealt with.

I love where I live! It’s between two major cities on the east coast so you can always get to something to do, but this place was also built with the intention of having open green spaces, ball fields, pools and all kinds or recreation. It was intentionally built to bring people off all races and socioeconomic backgrounds together so we can live and learn from each other. I’ve lived here most of my life and I can say they succeeded!

I happen to live in the countryside, about 300 miles SSW of Paris in France. A very rural area, full of old stones. Old 1700s house which has belonged for generations in my family and gigantic backyard. So, fresh air and plenty of exercise, few people you do not know, a lot of community activities and concerns, spur-of-the-moment visits, and no-one has to lock their door

Watching wildlife is so interesting and one can learn so much and at times even get a good laugh! Just remembered a scenery when a monkey stole grass out of the mouth of a sheep 😃

I like that it’s green always, fresh air. Lot of mountains, lakes and rivers. Lots of forest and hiking trails. Different parts has different languages. After 10 years living here I can say that I like this country. Lol

I live in a village of about 2,400. It is quiet and almost crime free. Seems there are more dogs here then households.

Nice that you can live in such a safe place! I feel that when everyone knows each other it can create some sort of safety but I wonder whether the dogs play a role too? Are those dogs living on the street or do they belong to households?
