Handling difficult tasks can be demanding and stressful. Something that works well for me is to calm with deep breathing exercises and make a mental list or even a physical (written) list with all pros and cons of my possible actions.

What helps you?

@toughTiger6481

Overthinking in the sense of reflecting how it can turn out and role playing sounds helpful.

Remembering the difficult tasks or life events that I've completed or made it through in the past, helps bolster my confidence when I'm facing something difficult.

@amiablePeace77 I like to think on difficult tasks for a couple days. Sleeping on problems often gives me deeper insights.

Breaking problems down into bite sized tasks also helps. That way I can prioritize and do the most important or most basic tasks first.

@amiablePeace77 I break complicated problems down into small tasks and try to focus on the next small, measurable task. This builds confidence and enables me to move on to the next task. Much like focusing on the 25m ahead of me when traveling on a large journey.

@loyalBunny4320

Good thinking to do tasks step by step, I could well imagine that it also decreases anxiety due to feeling overwhelmed with a big task.
