The New City

A man goes to an older person and says, “I would like to move to this city. What do you think of the people here?”

And the older person says, “What were the people like in your old city?”

And the man says, “They were awful, mean, spiteful.”

The older person says, “They are the same here. You shouldn’t move here.”

Then another person goes to the older person and says, “I’d like to move to your city. What do you think of the people here?”

And the older person says, “What were the people like in your old city?”

And the man says, “They were very nice people. Very smart. I enjoyed being around them.”

And the older person says, “They are the same here. You will enjoy it here.”

This is difficult for me to put my finger on. I think that it is a lesson about perspective and how you can’t just run away from spite and whatnot. Cool story though!! Thanks for sharing and asking other about it!!😃😃😜

@TBW16

Good point about that you can’t just run away from spite and whatnot because we will encounter it again if we will not face it.

I think that what you see really depends on how you look at it.

@caramelbunny2

Very true caramelbunny2, a coin does not have only one side. Looking at a situation from different angles allows us to get a better perspective.

I think it’s about how the energy you put out into the world is the energy that will reflect back at you.

@toughBeing4741 I agree that what I send out into the world is reflected back to me as if it was a mirror. Then what I see is not what is out there but what I am sending out into the world that I believe is happening.

I'm torn. One thought is that it depends on how you see things - like your outlook on things
but another is that you get what you give :)

@mytwistedsoul I think some people look at a glass that is half full and insist it is half empty. That is what they are focusing on.

The reality isn't always like that though. I for one yearn for living in a country where I'm not one of the persecuted minorities.

@moquila everyone should have the right to live without fear. I agree with you.

I look back at those that bullied me through the years and I realize that they were the victims as much as I was. They lived in a very distorted image of the world as a nasty place. There is no peace or satisfaction in that belief. I do not condone what they did, but I am sad that they are so unhappy and beat up inside that they are acting it out on the outside and being miserable and not really enjoying life in the fuller sense of being at peace with themselves. That is what compassion is to me. We are all in this same boat only some people are drilling holes in the hull. How foolish.

Hope you find a safe place, if not outside, at least inside. Kind regards. soulsings

Perspective vs Prospective
Perspective: Life is a refelection of what you think. If your thoughts are negative, the world you see will be the same.
Prospective: Life is full of challenges, obstables, ups and downs. But remembering that Life is full of potential and change is important. There is a reason why you are told to have things like hope, never give up, fight and keep going.
If life we as people tend to focus more on our own perspective and feel to see the prospective that is possible. It is easy to think you know everything and believe you are right when it comes to things. But we as human beings need to be open to understanding that everyday/moment/experience is a learning experience and to live life with an open-mind, open-heart, and open-eyes.

(This was really interesting reading and a good reminder about life)
