@MistyMagic
Hi! I'm here, and I'm doing OK for the most part. I'm starting to actually face up to the fact one of my previous relationships was abusive. I actually called a helpline, and they were really nice and helpful, and she gave me a number to get in touch with a women's advice/aid organisation who may be able to offer me some type of support -- possibly a floating support worker. I haven't got in touch with them yet, but that's what I'm planning to do. I really hope it turns out to be helpful. It's so hard to move on when I've had to deal with so much past abuse.
@resourcefulPond1641
Well done for recognising and then finding help. It can be very difficult. I hope that you contact them and come back to post and tell us how you got on.
@resourcefulPond1641 Its great you seek for help, first steps can be hard but I hope you feel better as you go. Stay strong and go for what you want.
Thanks for sharing, you maybe inspire someone to take the same path and ask for help.
Hugs.
Thank you both @MistyMagic and @Furaventos
I really appreaciate your kind words. It can be hard to find support, and it was hard to find right person who I could feel safe enough to talk to. Luckily for me a friend helped me with finding numbers to call, and looking into which ones would probably be best for me. It was very emotional for me, but the women on the phone was very supportive, and I left the coversation in a better position than I was in before the call. As afraid as I was beforehand; I feel better and stronger now for having faced my fears.
@resourcefulPond1641 its great you feel stronger, keep going! Youre doing an amazing job to rebuild yourself.
Hello,
Im crystal. Im new to this. I used to be in an abusive relationship. It started off verbally then ended in Physical. Thankfully Im out of it & have been for 2 going on 3 years now. However I still have flash backs & if I see guys who are bigger than me I automatically get bscared or if I get into an argument with a male & they raise their voice I automatically start to flinch & eventually Ill break down into tears. Does anyone else experience any of these, if so any advice. Because of this I havent been able to move on in another relationship cause Im scared
@Crystal897
Hi and welcome! I am really sad to hear about your past relationship, and understand how difficult it can be to move on completely without these remainder feelings being triggered. I hope that you can gain some support here from others in a similar situation as you.
Hope to soo you posting here more, Have a good Sunday.
@Crystal897 I've experenced flashbacks after being in an abusive relationship too. So you're certainly not the only one. I know it's hard to deal with, but I found it did get better with time - once I was able to find a place of safety away from abusive people so I could begin to heal.
I'm glad you reached out here. Wishing you all the best.
Hi. Im doing ok. Worried about the holidays because that is one time of the year its really hard because things usually go bad. Thanks for asking. @MistyMagic
My brother punched me today and pulled a knife on me
@Vandy1999

I am sort of safe now I'm just in another bad situation where I constantly get yelled at by my friends mom and am terrified that she will be home when my friend isn't here@MistyMagic
@Vandy1999

HI Misty and All,
Good Morning to you! When I introduced myself a bit ago, I realized that I hadn't answered your question of what we might like to see here on the Domestic Violence Support Community to help the most. I will probably add on to my reply as I think, but for now, just having others to converse with is major for me in breaking the chains that power and control have over me...I have lived isolated for too many years, that this internet connection on 7Cups is my little steps towards human interaction. There is much I'd like to grow towards my independence and encourage others along the way in their journey as well - we all can benefit from resources we can share. How active is the group currently? Is it growing?
Hello, I am new to this thread...just wondering if I am in an abusive relationship with my mom...She does say some pretty nasty things to me, but maybe I deserve it?
