Hello, welcome to the Trauma-sub-community

Check-in Prompt September 1st-4th

SILENT WALKING IS A NEW CONCEPT THAT IS TRENDING.

What is silent walking? Finding a place where you can walk purposely alone, Focusing on your breathing and clearing your mind of distractions, Focusing on the beauty of nature. No music, no pets, and no one else. Seeing the beauty of nature in a Mindful and Purposeful way.🚶

Silent walking is a great way to relax and de-stress. It can also help you to improve your focus and concentration. Here are some tips for silent walking:

  • Choose a safe place to walk, such as a park or a nature trail.

  • Wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

  • Start by walking slowly and gradually increase your speed as you become more comfortable.

  • Focus on your breathing and the sensations of your body as you walk.

  • Pay attention to your surroundings and notice the sights, sounds, and smells.

  • If you find yourself getting distracted, simply bring your attention back to your breath.

  • Continue walking for as long as you like.

Silent walking can be a great way to connect with nature and with yourself. It can also be a helpful way to reduce stress and anxiety.

Can you see yourself doing this?

How could you benefit from Silent Walking?

@WorkingitThrough2 Hey :) I love this! I usually take a walk every day out in nature because it really does help reduce stress and anxiety. It can be a really good way to ground yourself. It's peaceful and calming to hear the birds - the wind through the trees. I have to admit I used to take the dog with but she isn't able to join me anymore :/ Oh I thought of another tip! Bug spray lol! Bugs can be really distracting if you have to keep swatting them away :p

@WorkingitThrough2 We have been getting almost daily showers. I try not to complain because it saves time with having to water the garden each day. The humidity has been high too - makes for hot days

Soul same here. Makes the air feel thin and a bit hard to breathe to me or maybe just a feeling of clammy. Had to go out and do school shopping for the great-grandson,. It's been a long time since I had to do school shopping😂. Soul, how is your dad doing? and how are you feeling?❤️

User Profile: mytwistedsoul

@WorkingitThrough2 It does make it hard to breathe. That constant closeness

How is your great grandson? How are you doing with him there? School shopping - sounds kind of fun sort of not lol. So much to worry about and so many things to get! I hope he has a good first day at school

He's not doing well at all. He doesn't think he'll be here too much longer. Thank you for asking ❤️ It means a lot that you did
I'm - struggling right now - pretty bad tbh. Between my father and my dog - they seem to be racing to see who I have to say goodbye to first
*Hugs*

Hi @WorkingitThrough2, I like your prompt!

I feel like I could benefit from nature walks/silent walking. Walking to the park and lakeside at my old house was often helpful.

I need to find a way to not shut down and feel so scared about going outside alone. Hopefully with my new therapist, I'll be able to process my trauma memories and face my fears.

Thanks for the prompt!

@WriteToHeal42

Thank you for your response. I, too, could benefit from the silent walking. I am not one to go into the woods to walk, and I live in an area where there are no sidewalks, and walking in the street is too dangerous. So I live on two achers of land, and I walk around out there.

I am glad you have a new therapist to work with to process your trauma. I can relate to your fear that comes with the trauma.

Thanks for being a part of this community❤️

@WorkingitThrough2 it's been going well so far! She sends me therapy homework to fill out. One of them was about different types of self-care, like emotional, psychological, social, spiritual, and career wise. It was interesting to see where I was lacking and where I was doing well, and thinking over ways I want to improve.

Thanks for checking in with me about it!
