Trauma Community Check-in Sunday, September 9th 2018

Hey Trauma Survivors! I know I'm not a familiar face in this community but I have been a familiar face in other communities. I have always admired the support that the members and listeners have provided for one another in this community and it is difficult to see the community struggling so much.

Change is hard for anyone, but for people who have experienced trauma it is even harder. It takes us longer to adapt to new changes because we have to protect ourselves to make sure that we don't get hurt again. What the trauma community has been experiencing must be incredibly stressful for many of the listeners and members who have found a safe place here and I hope that we can make it a safe place for everyone again.

It's going to take time to heal and trust agian, but I have hope for this community and hope that I can help support the community as it rebuilds.

With today's check-in I want to know:

How are you feeling today on a scale of 1-10?

On the topic of change, can you think of a change that you have had to make in your life that at first was scary, but then in the end turned out better than you could ever imagine?

What's one thing that you hope to accomplish this coming week?

How can the community support you in this time of transition in the community?

Also, feel free to just say hi or share what's on your mind.

Hi I'm feeling uneasy and sad so sitting on a 2 maybe at best.. things change so quickly and it makes me feel uneasy.. the only things in my life that seem to last in my life are the bad things which keep happening.. I haven't been on the forums for a while because I haven't felt safe or secure and its just easier to hide when things get difficult, even though I acknowledge this is a bad way to cope it's easier sometimes

Im glad to see you around Calm. I think sometimes stepping back from whats making us unsafe, detach a bit, can be helpful and im glad you have done what felt right for you. I hope this place once again can become a place for you to seek support when you need, and im so sorry for the horrible timing, how it happened in a time that was already so difficult for you.

Hi Sara good to see a familiar name still.. it was easier to detach from the feeling of not feeling safe here just wish I could do it in my life because at this point in time I literally have no safe space 😢

Its hard being without a safe place, its such a loss and im really sorry Calm. I hope you can manage to find or create some space that if not totally safe feels more okay. Many of the people you know are still around, and they still care about you and want to support you, and the check ins are still running with both new and old faces, I hope that can offer some comfort, though I get that its not much compared to what was.

@GusteeMoon123 - That's really amazing to hear! I'm so glad that you're getting that support and that triggers have been a little more manageable recently!
