Trauma Support Community Check-in: Monday-Tuesday 22-23 March 2021
Hello community ❤️
Today's check in is about being okay with having weaknesses. Feel free to stop by, take a deep breath, and tell us about how you've been today ❤️ *sending safe hugs*
We as humans all have flaws. Some of us struggle with pride, others with the harsh words we tend to say, and many with simply saying we're sorry when we've done something wrong. When we make mistakes it's easy for all the bad thoughts to come rushing in. We just want to be better. Maybe even good. But it seems we keep messing things up. We can't recover fast enough. We keep relapsing. When will I ever be enough?
The truth is: there's no way for you to be perfect. If perfection is what you need in order to feel as though you're worth loving, you'll never get there. Maybe you don't need to. You are a special person with thoughts and ideas and feelings, just like everyone else in the world. Special people make mistakes too (even your favourite superheroes) It's okay to make mistakes. You're not the only one who does it. Why give mistakes the power to define you?
You are enough. You are trying, and that's enough. We do what we can with what we have ❤️ We don't have everything ❤️ We can't change the things that happened in the past, but we can decide what we want to do in the future. You can choose to learn how to overcome your weaknesses and develop your strengths ❤️ Give yourself a chance ❤️
Mistakes were made, but the future is still unwritten. The book of your life is before you, you need only to pick up a pen and start writing ❤️
Questions:
1. How are you? ❤️
2. What is something you're struggling to let go or forgive yourself for? What could be a good next step for you to take?
3. What is one thing you're grateful for today?

@hopebeyondpain Hey - How are you?
I can really relate to this post. I have a hard time forgiving myself for anything. I have a hard time not letting mistakes define who I am because - the whole family I was born into has defined me as a mistake
I hurt someone I cared for alot. I lost everything with them - it's a thought that's allways in my head - every moment of every day. I didn't intend on hurting this person - it was the last thing I wanted. I understand that we were each at different parts of our healing. She was ready for more and I was not. I realize there's some toxic stuff on both sides. There was some things I'm not sure if she really understood or maybe it's just assumption on my part. Idk - there's nothing I can do to fix any of this. Done is done - now I have to live with the choices and the loss. Never underestimate a persecutor - they can sabotage everything - maybe it's wrong to say - but it's how I feel. It's just another thing to add to a long list of mistakes made - Idk how to let any of them go and take the next step
The sun is shining and it's actually kind of warm out - so that's nice
Thank you for the checkin - Take care
@mytwistedsoul
Hey there ❤️ I'm a little tired but good, thank you for asking ❤️
To be stuck in a place where the only decent choice you can see is to somehow undo the mistake you made - that's an awful feeling. That feeling of desperation, hopelessness, and shame is one that I know intimately. There's no easy way out of it, you just have to live with the outcome, like you said ❤️ There is no wrong way to grieve a loss
Perhaps if you feel it would help, you could try writing a letter addressed to her, or to someone else about what happened. You don't have to send it out, but you can pen down all the things we wish you could change, all the things you want to say, and all the things you wish you could have. You could write one to each person in your life that you're still hurting over. It's okay to have these feelings, but it doesn't sound like they've been helping you move forward. Maybe something like this coul help you let go of the past and think about the next step ❤️
The sun is always a good reminder of all the warmth that is in life ❤️ The seasons may change, but the sun will always be there ❤️
Thank you for checking in with us today ❤️ Take care, and have a good day
1. How are you? ❤️ I'm not too bad today mince a tooth issue.
2. What is something you're struggling to let go or forgive yourself for? Hurting my friend and struggling between my my dad and mom. (I can be myself with my mom and yet I think my controlling dad misses me, or what he can control of me)
What could be a good next step for you to take? I just take one step at a time
3. What is one thing you're grateful for today? Good coffee
@Rebekahwriter13
Hey there ❤️ That's good to hear ❤️ I remember you mentioned having some discomfort because of health issues, so I'm glad those aren't too bad today ❤️
I understand ❤️ We never want to hurt the people we care about, but somehow it we just mess up sometimes. It sounds like you're freer and happier with your mom, but you also feel bad for not spending enough time with your dad. If you feel that being around your dad is going to hurt you, then it's okay not to go. You're not obligated to spend time with him if you don't want to ❤️ Ultimately, your needs and emotions are important too, and it's good to take care of yourself first ❤️ I love that you just take things one step at a time ❤️ That's a brilliant move, keep it up!
Ah yes, the thought of good coffee makes me want to grab a cup too - and I don't even drink coffee 😄
Thank you for checking in with us today ❤️ Take care, and I hope you'll have a pleasant day
@hopebeyondpain, hello!
1. How are you? ❤️
Neutral.
2. What is something you're struggling to let go or forgive yourself for? What could be a good next step for you to take?
I'm struggling to let go of unmotivation. It seems that I don't care with my last schoolwork anymore.. Obviously, being responsible is the good step for me to take. :)
3. What is one thing you're grateful for today?
I'm grateful to participate in some check-ins here.
Have a nice day!
@SnippyHam
Hey there ❤️ It's good to hear from you ❤️
Feeling apathetic about things like school is becoming increasingly normal these days ❤️ It can be difficult to hold on and make ourselves focus on schoolwork when it all feels unimportant. Perhaps it would help to find things you can bring yourself to appreciate in each aspect of school ❤️ I find that when I can change my perspective on the things I'm learning, and remember how cool some of these concepts really are, I'm a lot happier when I'm trying to do my schoolwork. If that seems like a bit of a stretch, that's okay. You could also give yourself a day to rest from school, and then decide on your next step from there ❤️
Thank you for checking in with us today ❤️ I'm grateful you're here ❤️ Take care, and I hope you'll have a good day ❤️
@hopebeyondpain
How are you? ❤️
At the moment, I am in a pretty good mood
2. What is something you're struggling to let go or forgive yourself for? What could be a good next step for you to take?
A. For continuing to feel angry at the people who hurt me and how I would like to get back at them. In truth, I want to be free of these feelings because these things happened in my past. Step-wise I am learning not to talk about the things that people did to me in the past.
3. What is one thing you're grateful for today?
All the wonderful blooms of spring and warmer weather
@Summershy
Hey there ❤️ Wow, that's awesome! Somehow it always makes me feel even better when I notice that I'm in a good mood, and I hope that's the effect it had on you too!
I understand that feeling ❤️ It just doesn't feel fair to suffer and not get anything in compensation. An explanation, an apology, or a punishment to show that our hurt was taken seriously, all these things might seem like they would make us feel better. But that kind of has the same effect as hurling a sea urchin at someone with your bare hands, doesn't it? It hurts to hold so tightly onto the past ❤️
You don't need anything but your own willingness to move on. You don't need to get back at them, and you don't need them to do anything for you. Letting go is entirely your own choice ❤️ Not talking about these things is a great step towards letting go of them and moving on, and I can tell that you're serious about getting this right ❤️ That alone really is half the battle won ❤️
It's a beautiful day today, and I'm grateful for the gentle and warmer weather too ❤️ Thank you for checking in with us today, it's been good to hear from you ❤️ Take care, and I hope you'll have a good day ❤️
