Hello everyone.

I'd like to apologize for posting the check-in thread later than normal. heart I just got back from a small break and have been dealing with my own struggles.

As always, this is a supportive space, and its optional to participate in check-ins.

This weekend's check-in is going to be on

Stronger than We Know

What do I mean by that? A common definition for weakness means wanting to change something, regardging something as a fault, something we feel makes us less. But many people have found ways to turn these so called "weaknesses" into a "strength" for themselves. Or found new strengths where they thought none had exsisted.

A good example of this is Strengths-based therapy. It is a tool used that focuses more on your internal strengths and resourcefulness, and less on weaknesses, failures, and shortcomings. This helps set up a positive mindset in ourselves.

I'm not trying to say this approach works for everyone, it doesn't. Everyone is different.

Yet, things like recognizing our stengths not faults. These accept us as is as a person. Not trying to ask us about what happened. Not trying to be harsh or rude. Just affirmation and understanding that something did happen, and it's a piece of who we are now.

Please remember you are not alone in this journey, we are here to support one another.

I also wanted to add a fun picture that ties into today's topic. They're animal strength cards. Its often used with children and teenagers to help identify a main strength or positive attribute that they have.

I like to think its an activity everyone would find some enjoyment in.

Now for the Check-In Questions:

How are you doing this weekend?

What's your favorite animal? Or an animal you identify with? (it can be one listed above, or any other)

What's some positive traits, or strengths that you have?

Any other thoughts you'd like to share?

Feel free to check in again over the weekend. I'll be replying as soon as I can.

How are you doing this weekend?

I am doing pretty good this weekend. How are you Skies?

What's your favorite animal? Or an animal you identify with? (it can be one listed above, or any other)

My favorite animals are pandas and shiba inus. I identify with sloths because I'm lazy like them cheeky

What's some positive traits, or strengths that you have?

Some positive traits that I have is that I'm hardworking and I strive to give my best in everything that I do no matter how big or small the task seems. Also I am appreciative of those who go out of their way to help me or be there when I need them to be. I am also consistent. The same way I start something is the same way I will finish it.

Any other thoughts you'd like to share?

I hope everyone has a great week and indulge in self-care because why not heart

Hi.

I am here.

Not sure about the animal thing. Animals are usually pretty calming though. Tossing around the idea if I want to get a pet or not. Benefits versus responsibilities versus whats reasonable for other people in the household as well. Im not the only one who has some health challenges. Well see.

Today... I feel kind of alone. Not terrible, not like it used to be, thank goodness. I honestly have no idea how I made it through those days/years. But I did. And Im here now. So theres that.

Now for the Check-In Questions:

How are you doing this weekend? This weekend was OK, pretty low key. Went shopping on Saturday & got some clothes for my son for school (he will be going in person two days a week) & Sunday we all went to a place in RI that has little shops & such; got a couple of new necklaces (one with a little lotus & another one is the tree of life); then my husbands cousin (he moved a while ago to another state a couple of years ago) was here picking up his son because a coupe of weeks ago the kids mother was killed by her boy friend, run over by a truck intentionally; so his cousin was coming up here to get & take his son home with him because there is no other family. So my husband picked him up & he came to hang out & had burgers with us.

Then today; Monday; is my son's first day of school (virtual) so I decided to call out of work so that way I could stay home with him in case he needed my help. Plus if I am being honest with myself I honestly couldn't handle work today. My anxiety is through the roof.

What's your favorite animal? Or an animal you identify with? (it can be one listed above, or any other) I love the red panda, panda, monkeys, dogs, cats, & chipmunks.....bunch more just cannot think of them right now LMAO

What's some positive traits, or strengths that you have? Some positive traits that I have is that I have a huge heart, care about everyone, believe that everyone has at least a little bit of good in them, I am a very hard worker, a good listener, & I take pride in knowing everything I have I worked for.

Any other thoughts you'd like to share? Does anyone else feel like the process to getting better is taking FOREVER?!?! I have been feeling latley that I have been going through this forever & just wish that I could have a break through & feel 100% better. Am I the only one? I am sure that I cannot be the only one but my god this is such a long process which just gives me anxiety because I hate feeling this way. #confusing #justwanttofeelbetter
