Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check In - Friday June 2nd 2017
Oh no! No Friday check in yet. You know what they say? Better late than never!
Do you have any old proverbs you swear by? I've just finished work and planned a barbecue. Guess what? It's raining! Not sure what proverb fits that, but I'd definitely swear in it!
How is everyone this Friday?

Ah, there it is -- let's paste this into its proper place:
Passedout relatively early last night (around 11pm) and woke up disoriented at 330am. Normally I take my evening anxiety meds at 1145pm (with reminder alarm set) but could not for the life of me remember taking them, nor had I noted down the dose (my memory is like a sieve these days). Is entirely possible that I had simply shut off the alarm while half asleep.
So, rather than keep myself up all night in a state of fitful uncertainty, I just took a pill and went back to sleep. Now I'm wondering if I did in fact take a double dose by accident, as the brain fog this morning was thick as overcooked porridge soaked in molasses. Ah well -- gives me a good excuse to be slow on the uptake today. (Translation: not going to torture myself worrying and wondering, and just allow myself to be however I happen to be -- Everything Is Ok, etc etc etc).
Roommate left today on a camping trip for the weekend. A friend of hers is staying to take care of her dog and fish. Seems nice enough, but is unsettling for me to have a stranger in my house, even one who has been thoroughly vetted.
Also still have to meditate this AM (update: DONE). Motivation is sorely lacking, but will push against the inertia. Decidedly unmotivated in general today -- rescheduled 2 appointments & still have a message from Wed to return.
Not yet overwhelmed -- but the day is still relatively young, and I'm back in bed (shocking, I know).
@melliotm
Hi Mel, How confusing, but good choice not to torture yourself. You did your meditation already, so you're on track to get a few things done once out od bed. It's always unsettling with a stranger in your house. Nice to know they've been vetted completely.
I hope your day stay non-overwelming. Rescheduling appointments seems like a good idea to eep it that way.
Cheers, Mary
Kinda feel like crap. Partially because I intentionally didn't take any of my pills today. Idk if this will make things worse, make things better, or do nothing at all, but I can't just keep going to the doctor and getting no answers. I had an ultrasound today, and my follow up appt is next Wednesday. So, not for the first time in my life, I'm running my own experiment to see if maybe I'm just taking too much of something. If I am, then I can adjust accordingly on my own since doctors are never helpful for me unless it's something obvious like an ear infection. If nothing changes over the next few days, or I get worse, then I'll go back to taking everything. But this is the only thing I actually have control over in all of this. My stomach pill I might have to take. I did try eating a little bit without taking it, but I've been taking it for like 5yrs, so I don't think my body will like me not taking that one 🙃
@BeeLeigh
It's so frustrating and helpless feeling when you have to wait for a diagnosis. Please be really careful modifying your medications on your own because stopping some meds suddenly can have adverse and even fatal consequences. Is there anyway you can tell your doctor what you plan to do to get expert advice?
@MKJart
I'm not taking anything that would cause problems when stopped without weaning. I've done this before, and actually had to lower the dose of my stomach pill cuz that's what was giving me problems then. My doctor prescribed me an NSAID even though I said I can't take them, so, I don't really trust her. She's only been my doctor since like, September, cuz my old doctor has too many public aid patients already so they just switched me when I went on public aid. I do understand the dangers, which is why I do my own research using information mostly from the Mayo Clinic, and also by asking our nurse practitioners at work. This is the only thing I can test. My blood work was fine, but everyone's body is different, and maybe I had something at the very top of "normal" that my body can't handle that much of. Every test always comes back normal/fine/good/whatever. And it usually comes down to something I'm taking, or some blood test they didn't run for an infection that they would've known I had if they'd listened to my symptoms. I appreciate your concern, but, as reckless as this may sound to you, I do know what I'm doing 🙂
@BeeLeigh
I never said reckless. It sounds like you know what you're doing. Hope you get some results soon.
@MKJart
I know you didn't use that word. I apologize if that came across as rude. My point is, I deal with meds all day at work. I can look at a patient's med list and tell you what they're taking for actual problems, and what they're taking to counteract the side effects of the meds they actually need. I can tell you right now that me not taking anything will, at the very least, make my stomach (the organ, not the abdominal area) feel weird, and mess with my moods (not a psych med). Other than those two aspects being affected, I shouldn't run into any actual problems. My stomach may start to hurt really bad, and if that is consistent for any amount of time I will take my stomach pill. But my stomach pill was the problem before and I halved my dosage a couple years ago after that. So, hopefully it's something as simple as making an adjustment and then I'll be "all better". If it's not, they haven't run an MRI or a CT yet so I guess one of those can be next. I prefer the CT, but if it's an open MRI I don't mind those 🙂
@BeeLeigh
So how does this work? You get results on Wednesday?
It must feel good to have today's appointment behind you.
@themainjane
Yeah, I get my ultrasound results on Wednesday. Hopefully I'm right and it's just one of the pills I'm taking, otherwise, I'll just be going back on everything and hoping they can figure it out with some other test! Idk. I just don't want to be dealing with this anymore 😕
@BeeLeigh
I can understand wanting to be done. Hope the reduction in dose does the trick!
@themainjane
Thanks! I actually haven't been feeling too bad today! 🤞🏻
