Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check In - Sunday, November 5th 2017

Hello Lovely Ones,
My wish for you today/tonight is that you will experience the support of others, whether offline or online. In my life, there are times when it was so hard to ask for help, yet without it I wouldn't be where I am today.
What can you see today that you able to do with support of someone else that you weren't able to do in the past by yourself?
Is there anything you'd like to accomplish today that's been on your mind that we can encourage you with?
How are you this day/night?
You are not alone and I'm so thankful for each one of you!

@KristenHR i feel like ive been crushed and let down by a certain person who use to support me and want to help me. i feel hurt it happened even though it wasnt his fault..i feel like its crushing
@Jesse9675
I'm so sorry to hear that happened. I can totally understand how that feels so crushing. Even if it wasn't their fault, being let down or hurt unintentionally still hurts. Do you want to share, is there any continued support there, or potential for it in the future? I'm so thankful for you. I'm glad you posted and shared your feelings.
@KristenHR Hey Kristin, Greetings everyone
Today I am here to lend my support to alle
@Raveninthelabrynth

Much Love and Respect hon
@KristenHR Hi!!! From today, I will be regular in this community.
As a survivor of complex trauma, I think I have a lot of things to share and give and receive support through this excellent Trauma Support subcommunity.
@Saif1for1Resilience
You are so awesome! Welcome to the support that is here from this wonderful group of survivors. It's great you will be joining us to receive and give support. Thanks for being here and I appreciate you!
@Saif1for1Resilience Welcome Saif. Looking forward to getting to know you :)
@Raveninthelabrynth Thank You so much. I am Saif. Understanding trauma, giving support to trauma victims, is my goal. I want to make people aware about the effect of trauma in their lives and the path forward. This is one thing, I am truely passionate about.
I am working as a listener at 7cups since August. Now, I understand, 7 cup has an excellent subcommunity (Trauma support), where I can work with my passion to understand and give support to trauma.
@KristenHR I just joined in this Trauma Support community. I have suffered from severe childhood trauma known as complex PTSD. I am trying to overcome what happened. And move ahead. I hope through this community I will be able to get support to keep myself moving ahead. I will try my best to help others too.
@butters45 Welcome Butters I'm Raven. It's nice to have you here. Trauma Support is an amazingly supportive SubCommunity. Make yourself at home, get to know the community and the support staff. We're looking forward to getting to know you.
What can you see today that you able to do with support of someone else that you weren't able to do in the past by yourself?
I can stop flashbacks and panic attacks on my own now! I couldnt do that before cuz I didnt know how to, but someone walked me through grounding earlier this year and helped me see that I could actually do it, and now I can do it on my own! :)
Is there anything you'd like to accomplish today that's been on your mind that we can encourage you with?
I dont think so. Ive got some things I need to get done around my apartment that I keep putting off because of homework, but I need to wait for a school break before I can take care of that stuff lol. So today is just a homework filled day! 🙃
How are you this day/night?
Im doing pretty well thank you! Its still morning here, and its been quite the stormy one, but I think its finally cleared up a bit! :)
How are you? :)
@BeeLeigh Hey Bee I'm super happy to hear your having a great day. Awesome job at managing your emotions, that's the key for us.
Absolutely Outstanding hon!
@Raveninthelabrynth
Danke schön Raven! 😊
@BeeLeigh Þú est fanga (you are welcome :) )
@BeeLeigh
It's so good to see you. How wonderful to be able to stop the flashbacks and panic attacks. That is so important to the road of recovery as those symptoms can be so debilitating. Good for you! I'm very thankful for you!
It's raining here, but I'm good. I had a nap, which is why I'm late since you posted. lol
@KristenHR
What can you see today that you able to do with support of someone else that you weren't able to do in the past by yourself?
Maybe breathing better when I am starting to panic. Probably a lot of things.
Is there anything you'd like to accomplish today that's been on your mind that we can encourage you with?
I have a lot of chores I can do, but I probably won't. I just want to exist today and make it through until tomorrow.
How are you this day/night?
Today I am feeling very numb. My mind is full of fog and it is hard to focus. I presently do not mind this and hope the numbness lasts a long time. I would prefer numbness over the extreme lows I have been experiencing.
@wontsleepwontwake (Hugs). Glad you made the effort to checkin. I hear you with going numb and not being able to focus. I was like that alle last week. Strange to me it effected me everywhere but here. I couldn't think about or in school, but I'm past it again.
I'm here alle day, feel free to post me if you need or wish.
@Raveninthelabrynth - thank you <3
I need to learn to stop placing myself in dangerous situations..I don
@lightVillage54 Much Love Bunnie, Hugs. You got my number so to speak hon. :)
@lightVillage54
Those are great goals. Particularly the first one. Any ideas on what it would take to help you with the situations that are risky for you? I so appreciate you and am thankful for you. Thanks for sharing.
@KristenHR no idea ryt now at all :/
@KristenHR
Love this theme : "Strength increases with help." Its been my experience when we ask for help, its there. Hardest part is to ask.But I'm getting better at this, and really appreciate the support that I have around me at this time. Thanks Kristen. x
@rozie
It's so good to have you join in. I hear you about the struggle of asking for help. I'm so glad you have the support on this journey to help you through. I'm glad you're here as part of our community so you can get support, and you give wonderful support back. I'm thankful for you. You rock for all you do!
i don't normally post in these check-ins but felt like i needed to share something today
i really struggle with fireworks. hearing them, especially close, makes me have panic attacks and flashbacks. it's one of the few triggers that i have very little control over and still sends me spiraling.
here in the UK at the moment, everyone is currently celebrating bonfire night which means pretty much constant fireworks from sundown, all weekend.
i was really nervous about this weekend but i'm actually coping the best i have in years. i've been staying over at my boyfriends and he's been helping me through a few rough patches but i'm getting through each night with minimal flashbacks. and tonight i haven't even had a panic attack! i still wear headphones for most of the night but i can still hear them a bit. they put me on edge but i feel in control and safe. it's been a long time since i felt this safe, i feel like i'm finally making progress :)
@EllieKB Hey hon big time hugs. I'm sorry you are going through this stress. This is one I am alle too well familliar with. I am a veteran of two armies, serving through two bad conflicts. When I hear gunfire even from a neighbour target practicing, or I hear fireworks I too feel the shock. Sometimes I even "hit the dirt" so to speak. It has been over 25 years since I was in combat but these sounds effect me on some primal fight or flight level to this day. When this happens, it can take a moment to get m thought clear but I first tell myself where I am, what year it is and that there is no current conflict, and see the point is just people having fun. I make myself see that their fun is not connected to my Trauma and use that to pull myself togeather. Again, noises like this and the reaction to is not exculsive to Veterans. This reaction is from a primal sector of our brains. It does it's thing for a moment, then it's up to us to rationalize this and see we're ok and pull ourselves togeather and carry on. Please feel free to post me if you need or wish. :)
@Raveninthelabrynth
thank you so much for this message, it really means a lot to me.
i've been beating myself up a lot recently, telling myself that what i saw wasn't that bad, that other people have it worse, that i should be over it by now. i've been getting very angry at myself for feeling this way and not being able to control it.
when i read supportive message like the one you sent me, it helps me see my trauma as valid. i'm able to remind myself that it's ok to not always be ok and to take my time to recover
thank you so so so so much
@EllieKB
P.S. nice to have you here today. :)
@EllieKB
I'm so glad you chose to post today/tonight. I'm really pleased to hear you are making progress with the support from your boyfriend. What a wonderful time to feel much more secure on this holiday for you. Kudos to you! I really appreciate you, and appreciate that you wanted to join in today and share how you are being helped with this struggle you've had for a long time it sounds like. Keep posting!
