Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Sunday, October 1 2017
Hello everyone, happy white rabbits! To those that may be unfamiliar with that saying, it is an old saying meaning good luck for the month and is traditionally said on the first of each month for that reason
October is finally here, and although it has officially been fall in the eastern hemisphere for a week or so now according to the Equinox. However, when October rolls around, it actually feels like fall.
The fall can bring around such fun activities and things to look forward to, such as pumpkin spice flavored hot drinks (tea and coffee), pumpkins in general (carving, painting, eating their seeds, or cooking them into pies), and so on! Of course, Halloween is also in the fall so it's that time of the year again to begin stocking up for candy for the kids if you live in a neighborhood that hosts a Trick-or-Treat. Costume contests can also be fun for kids, and there's also usually a teen section as well for your age, and even an Adult one as well since there's many adults here too
So, for today's question, what are you most excited about for fall? I'm so excited to hear your answers
@Emily619 well i cant relate to this post not american but hey it seems fun :)

Sona Deireadh Fómhair (Pronounced Jerrah Foe-er) Alle (Happy October everyone)
As a Norse Celt born and raised a pagan, this is a very busy holiday season indeed.
From Hertha's Day celebration (the equinox) to Samhaín (pronounced sow-en) festivals celebrating the Celtic New Year at the end of the month. I build a wiccerman, place alle my woes in it, then creamate them freeing myself. Yep a busy season for me.
It's fun to be in America and see how they do things here too. :)
Hope everyone has a great season and a wonderful day.
Raven
@Raveninthelabrynth You actually build wickerman? That's cool!
@roseMelody95 yes, 3x's a year :) It's my peoples way of letting go. :)
favorite things of fall are the cooler weather, changing of fall colors, not the very bright sun when picking up kids in morning :), taking my Lil one to pick out a pumpkin and bring home and we mix up a teal color pain and paint it then cut out the face he wants, we do teal to let others know that we have not only candy but we have the non edible things too for those with special needs and food allergies, we always took my Lil one around trick o treating cause he loved it but the sad part was when we got home he knew that most of it he would not be able to have cause most of it would have red dye 40 in it n he gets very hyper n violent if has that. but he does love to dress up in a new pj hooded character. thats all the good things i like about fall, but its also been very stressfull for me this year trying to keep legs n feet strong enough to be able to continue to work unlike past couple years in the fall clear though till spring i would end up on medical leave im trying to fight that this year, past few days been fighting alot of thoughts, yesterday slept almost all day, today been up most the day since bout 5am very unusal for me and been having racing thoughts today with very hard to focus on anything.
'lo everyone.
Woooo! Fall! Love the crisp, chill air. The fact kidlets are in school and it's not so busy anymore. Makes it easier to plan things and go out and do things without worrying about a lot of people. 'cept Christmas- but that's not Fall! Anyway, I love a lot of the things you mentioned. Costumes, caaaaaaaaaaaandy, All Hallow's Eve/Samhain, the falling leaves. So many things! It has a pretty big spiritual meaning for me, too. Especially around Samhain.
Around the equinox in September, I began reflecting upon the events that have happened this year and taking a look at what I've reaped in means of progress and what not. Thought about the equalization of forces in my own life, and how things are, how things can be. I guess I've made a lot of progress this year. It's hard for me to tell... I feel like I won't be satisfied until my agoraphobia and social anxiety is manageable enough for me to leave the house, drive where I need to and work. All on my own. It still feels a long way coming. And somehow with all the chaos, I've been able to get through my university studies, not lose my mind, and even make a bit of progress. Heck, I even joined this community and am trying to reach out to different people and resources more...
Still feel like people are a bit too dismissive of social anxiety stuff and mental illness in general, reached out and got a big bag of it's all in your mind when I simply wanted empathy. I know it's there and I've got my psych to work this out with, but seriously. Especially when I got gaslighting and mind-games to deal with where my reality gets twisted, the last thing I need to hear is something like that. So I got a bit frustrated. Get real tired of the fixer types- this isn't something you can just fix within a minute of meeting someone and using some cliche we've heard over and over. There really needs to be more understanding for people who suffer these things. It's a pretty sorry state of things.
@CaloenasNicobarica I can relate to what your saying for sure! Sometimes what we really need in empathy, not someone trying to fix us or find a solution.
Everything Pumpkin SPice!
The love the changing leaves, pumpkin rolls, hot chocolate, and cuddle weather. I also love Halloween.
Cooler weather and pumpkin spice stuff :)
I hate that the sun basically doesn't exist though 🙃
Roommate woke me up at 230am banging around in the kitchen. Been unable to sleep since. Thoughts won't stop thinking, despite all efforts to relax, remain calm, remind myself that I'm safe, etc.
Trying my best to manage the feelings of frustration, to accept the discomfort until it eventually passes. Just needed to vent my spleen a bit, as they say. Staying anchored to the present moment is proving difficult, but I'm trying...
Count me as an outlier to consensus regarding the onset of Autumn. It a challenge for me to manage this time of year. But that's more to do with anniversary memories and such, vs any specific likes or dislikes regarding the season itself.
Which may or may not factor into the thoughts that I'm having.
