Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Thursday 26th April 2018
Hello lovely trauma family,
As we get towards the end of the day, the end of the week and the end of the month I wonder if we stop to reflect. its been a busy time lately for us with lots going on, and in this last week celebrating our very first birthday! And caught up in all the busyness and the pressures to complete things, we often don't have time to stop and think about our experience.. to reflect. Yes. I'm going to talk about the art of reflection.
John Dewey,renowned educator and thinker said : "We do not learn from experience...we learn from reflecting on experience."
I think we are more likely to be reflective at times like the end of the year, when we look back and think about how its been. Maybe remember highlights or special moments, or something we have learned from our experience. But creating a space to be reflective more often than this, it can help us to reflect and learn from what is happening in our day. It can help us to build on the successful moments, and to break free of the self doubt that holds us back. We can review what worked, what didn't work, and how we could do it differently.And in moments of reflection the next step may become clear.
How do we become more reflective? Its about creating an opportunity to step back and ponder on the meaning of what has been happening. Finding some quiet time and a quiet place.Being present and with self compassion reflecting on an experience in the day.Then listening for that inner voice.. can be that writing down thoughts and feelings will facilitate this... and trusting the inner guidance that is there. So that in reflecting on this experience we learn from it,or something becomes clear, or we apprecate a successful moment, a special moment.. ours lives can be enriched and our growth encouraged by pausing to be reflective.
"Glowing moments of peaceful reflection kindle the growth of our minds and spirits."
How is your day going? Do you find being reflective is helpful? Or pop in to say hi! Love to hear from you. This is your space and a safe place. .. love from a reflective rozie. x

@BeeLeigh Great to hear that you had a good sleep Bee!
@rozie Hi rozie, yes, I think being reflective can be really useful. I've been feeling quite low today, but after reading your piece on reflection, I started to think and remembered several times recently when I have seen progress in myself, so now I'm concentrating on being proud of myself for these small personal triumphs which is making me feel a bit better!
Hi rozie, your post has come at a perfect time
I need to learn to reflect on the good things that have happened and not just the bad. So, for my first good reflection, I can say that I have been keeping on top of my work and I should stop pushing myself so hard to do more than I can handle.
Love and hugs to all
Most of my reflections are just not good and make me think about things I try to suppress, I try still to find the good in most of life's issues
Failing and sometimes succeeding to accomplish it.
@rozie
Hey there!
I've been feeling pretty burned out from constant working. I've had essays to crank out, people to keep in touch with, deadlines, drama, and the likes weighing me down lately and dragging my mood into the abyss. It's hard being constantly busy and knowing I will be a senior soon freaks me out a bit (TT) I'm ready for a break, needless to say. On the bright side, this summer I will be going to Iceland! So once all of this work and worry melts away, I'll be vibing in some hot springs for a bit lol :)
I hope all is pleasant, have a good rest of your day! <3

@TheHoneyDoll
Hey! Good to see you here. Sounds like its being a frantic time for you, with lots of pressures.. hoping you can see your way to completing this and getting to a break.Wow going to Iceland in the summer! A fascinating place I believe .. a friend has just been there and took some amazing photos, All the best. x
@rozie

Today is Kingsday. I will be completely irresponsible all day. I will probably regret it all tomorrow when my voice is gone and I have a bit of a hangover. It is the most fun day of the year. Reflection will come tomorrow, lol
Hello! I'm doing pretty well. I do find reflecting on my life to be helpful, at times, since it helps me make decisions based on past events. However, it can also be kind of painful at times. All in all, though, I do feel like it's pretty important to do in general.
