Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Thursday 30th August 2018

Hello lovely trauma family

The story that is in mind today is a very old one. Do you remember Chicken Little... Henny Penny running around screaming frantically.. "the sky is falling..." and everyone they met getting caught up in the drama. When in reality, it wasn't. It was an acorn. Its true when we feel fear and insecurity we are inclined to frantically look for solutions, or someone/something to blame. We want to fix or if we are Henny Penny we think the king can fix it.But in the midst of the storm we are not in a good place or space to do this.

".. just remember, the storm doesn't last forever. It can scare you, it can shake you to your very core.But it never lasts. The rain subsides, the thunder dies, and the winds calm to a soft whisper. And that moment after the storm clouds pass, when all is silent and still, you find peace. Quiet gentle peace." S.L.Jennings.

Do we wait for the calm after the storm, do you we wait until we begin to feel some peace. Can we then accept the situation for what it is and look at it with through the lens of inner peace. To get it in perspective. And by focusing on the here and now, on what is real, be more able to begin to draw on our creative energy and to work together.

"Wait for the calm after the storm. Wait for the peace to return once more."

The peace will come. I think we move towards that peace, as we recognise how exhausted we have become. And that tells us its time to slow down and take a break. To make sure we have some time out. .. to go to that inner sanctuary where peace resides.

To only control what we can control. And to have some fun.... to smile, to laugh, to feel joy again. smiley

How is your day going? How are you going to move or are moving towards that peace? Or pop in to say hi! You're welcome here. This is your space and a safe place. And so glad to have my check in buddy and dear friend Kite alongside me. Love from rozie. x

@scarletPear1945

Sun is hard to be found after a storm but sun is there even where the isn't a storm. Be grateful when you see it, cause you will miss it when the storm come...

@Wildheart123

Oh my heart goes out to you. I really know what its like when another piece hits you, just when you thought and hoped it was slowing down. We don't always have much control over what is going on... we can only do what we can in this moment. And after a bad night to keep on with your grounding and I will sit here with you... you are not alone. x

I wish that one day it would stop feeling like I am alone. It's so deeply entrenched as something that's been an absolute truth that it's still very hard to believe anything else. In this moment, what I can do is try to remember that I have two people sitting with me, and chocolate smiley

Thank you for this post. I had a very hard therapy session yesterday. I need to remind myself to let the storm pass and not get caught up in it.

@rozie

Your insightful and hopeful check ins always make me put my thinking caps on. Sometimes I'm not there yet seeing the hope behind the words, and sometimes I diverge down a more difficult and probably irrelevant path when I read them.

Today when I first read the post, I thought about the causes or reasonings behind these storms -- how they arose and perhaps what seemingly irrelevant and innocent interactions culminated to such calamities. I thought about the butterfly effect from the chaos theory -- how the simple flap from a butterfly could give rise to a major storm elsewhere. I reasoned that what happened before to me was due to a mixture of societal and cultural misconceptions as well as the interpersonal relationships that he surrounded himself with. All of those things, I can't control or even try to make a dent in changing -- at least on my own. However, having that rationale finally put an end to my long search for answers. A search that shouldn't have taken that long, as I had already attributed similar external factors to the prior's actions. For the most recent one it was how he didn't choose better that I couldn't accept the same reasonings for so long.

Because that was the only thing that mattered for so long, suddenly nothing matttered anymore It wasn't immediate but slowly, and with guidance, other things in my life start to matter. Sometimes their importance doesn't grasp the mind as strongly, and sometimes they're just fleeting senses of importance, but in the end there was enough that mattered or could matter for the time being to keep things going.

Perhaps this way of thinking isn't that helpful, since it pulled me down for so long. I felt it was necesary to have some sort of rationale behind the events that surge the emotions, as it finally brought me some sense of calmness. In fact I felt pure bliss for the first time afterwards. It was a little misplaced as I ended up laughing at everything, even things pretty dark things about myself that I shouldn't be laughing at. Nevertheless, from there, I can finally continue towards the right fork in my paths.

I'm also proud of a major step I took today in my session. Only a few more things I need to reveal.

@rozie Today's been a really bad day for me mental health wise with my ptsd. Last night I had recurring nightmares of my trauma experiences. It was so hard to sleep which really affected my day today and mood. Being a teacher and having mental health issues is exhausting.
