Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Tuesday 29th August 2017
Good morning/afternoon all!
Its a warm and sunny Tuesday here and its been a good day. Hoping that your Tuesday wherever you are is a good one for you too.
"Don't try to overhaul your life overnight.
Instead, focus on making one small change at a time.
Over time, these small changes will add up to a big transformation.
Don't give up!"
Usually I don't like something written in what may seem to be a negative way, like using the word "don't" But rather like this quote that i came across recently and think it can speak to us. One small change at a time with kindness and patience can add up to something more. So don't give up!
How are you doing today? What are your thoughts on this quote? What would you say to someone who feels like giving up? Or anything else you'd like to say. Love to hear from you. This is your space and a safe place. x
I had a really difficult day, yesterday; and this morning I feel so exhasted and I feel like crying. I have stuff I need to do today, and others are depending on me, but I hardly feel like I'll be able to even get out of bed.
@sweetMelody95
Oh after a difficult day its not surprising you're feeling exhausted this morning. Sounds like some rest and self care would be helpful. Is there any way you can get someone else to support you and do some of the day for you. Often we don't ask or expect it, but others are willing to lend a hand. Please take good care of youself and know that we are here in support. x
@rozie Unfortuanately I don't really have anyone else here to help me. But thank you! I appreciate the thought.
@sweetMelody95
I hope you start to feel better soon. HUG!
@KLM3278 Thank you! I actually ended up called Samaritans today, and a few of my on-line friends where supportive. So that's something.
@sweetMelody95
Oh I have emailed them before to! They were very kind. I'm glad you got support today!!! Praying for you!!!❤️
@rozie
Hi
I'm okay today
@sensitiveShade5337
Hi Shade, that's so good to hear and glad to have you here with us. x
@rozie
sorry for not answering your questions :/
@sensitiveShade5337
The first question is "How are you doing today?", so you did answer a question! 😊
@rozie
Bad day, very very bad day. Could barely sleep woke up at 4:30am exhausted, need to be working but so dissociated everything even sounds wrong. Sorry to share that its not really happy, probs should keep it to myself lol.
@Lilibuth12 I'm in a similar boat (or blanket fort as the case may be ⛺) so at least we can share the inner turmoil together ❤️
Even though I'm having truly awful feelings/flashbacks today (as I have been the last few days), and can't seem to access my coping skills/resources when I need them most, I'm still trying my best not to fall down a spiral of panic and self loathing.
Don't mind me, just curled up in a ball in the corner of my fort, riding out the trauma storm.⛺
@melliotm
Joining you in the fort man, I bring blankets!
@Lilibuth12 All the cool kids are sheltering in place (with chocolate and cookies🍫🍪)
I've been doing really well lately. Can't complain. Now the real test will be seeing how I make it through this weekend. I have 45 assignments due between Thursday and Monday. If I survive that without falling apart, I'd have to say I think this medication is working way better than I thought it would!
Ignore for a moment that I'm American and have no American currency to include here. I'm going to try to remember to stop at the bank and turn this in tomorrow, but before I do, I'd just like to say that out of all the money I've used, that
@rozie
How are you doing today? Have had a ok day, slept alot, think i dealt with pain in that way.
What are your thoughts on this quote? My thinking is just like this quote, like for example trying to overcome depression, ed, sh, none of those happened over night they all will take time to heal from one small step in the right direction is towards recovery for them.
What would you say to someone who feels like giving up? Keep trying, giving up is not worth it, even if just going day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute or even second by second. Reach out for support.
This is the time of year when several "anniversary" dates occur. It is odd how they can drift in and out of my days. I don't ignore them and try not to dwell on them either. This year has been a little bit more difficult. I have been working on the feelings associated with the events as opposed to just the facts. It is wearing on me right now, but I am hoping that the pieces will come together with some hard work.
@Compassionatelistener108
Yes "anniversary" dates are not easy times and they do come round. Good for you allowing the emotions now and know its wearying.So be gentle with yourself. And as you say its about the pieces fitting together, and in the end an integrated narrative. x
@rozie
Thank you for the support, Rozie.
I came across a website that has planners and organizers that make a large goal into smaller goals. It makes since to things step by step.
