Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Wednesday 3rd January 2018
Good evening dearies
Terribly sorry for the late post, I've been really busy today ^^|| Sending all my love in apology! To make it up, here's a cute sheep!

Today I'd like to ask not only about your day but any New Year's resolutions you may have from January 1st! A lot of people feel that New Year's resolutions have to be intense and extremely committing like losing 50 pounds, changing your diet in one night, working out, going back to school, returning to being extremely spiritual, and so on but this couldn't be farther from the truth! I applaud those who make goals like this and succeed but I also want to bring recognition to the "smaller" goals too.
This year, my goal is to write more each month. I am a creative writer and I was only writing creatively about three times a year in 2017. I was wrapped around essays, articles, and all the nonfiction school work and never gave myself time to be creative. I felt I wasn't good enough to post my work or that it wouldn't do much for me but I decided to go against that thinking and write 1-3 times each month this year in 2018!
So my question is: how was your day and do you have a resolution? How is 2018 going so far?
If you don't have a resolution, I'd like to share some simpler goals you might be able to use. And if you don't want to have a resolution, that's awesome too! As long as it works for you! :)
Simple resolution ideas:
1. Spend some time outside each day and relax
2. Try yoga
3. Draw more
4. Write more
5. Spend less time on a phone
6. Go to bed earlier
7. Switch coffee for tea/water
8. Eat at least one healthy dish a week
9. Say please and thank you more often
10. See a play
11. Volunteer somewhere
12. Donate food to an animal shelter
13. Finish a book this year
14. Grow a plant
15. Drink at least 8 fluid ounces of water a day
16. Bake something sweet
17. Write down your feelings before bed
18. Try meditating at least once a week
19. Take a nice bath and relax at least once a week
20. Try a new hobby
These are just some of the many possibilties and even though they aren't huge like finding a loved one or changing jobs, they are just as valuable and useful!
Hope everyone had a good day and that the first 3 days of 2018 have gone well
I can't wait to hear how it is going for you all and if you have any resolutions! ^^ They can be big, small, or you may not even have one. You're all doing great!

down in heart and spirit but I've learned some valuable lessons.
@scarletPear1945
I'm sorry to hear it isn't going very well. I'm sending hugs
What are some the lessons you have learned if you would like to share? :)
@TheHoneyDoll
Don't talk honestly to your therapist., Be careful of the words you use and that we are not anomous
@scarletPear1945
Interesting lessons to learn indeed! What made you feel that you shouldn't be honest with your therapist if I may ask? :) Feel free to not answer by the way ^^
@TheHoneyDoll
I told her some things and she has called Protective services on me today. Even though she knew the reason she got my info from 7cups and has filed a report on something that never should have happened. Got my household in an uproar. My husband having chest pains. It's my fault for sharing too much info with her
Today I
@thatdramaticsoprano
Yay! Such amazing goals! It makes me so happy to hear that you will be focusing on yourself and seeking help
Best of luck! I bet you will do amazing :)
@TheHoneyDoll thank you so much for your kindness and support!
@TheHoneyDoll
That sounds like a great resolution, I hope you can keep to it. I know some people gain satisfaction out of resolutions and sticking to them or achieving them but over the last few years, new years has had zero to no significance to me other than a new calendar year. I've come to wonder why it is people wait till it's a new calendar year to start new things when that can be done at any time really.
However, I can appreciate the fun/gratification or embracing a new year as a new start. In fact, for a change this year, I think i've thought of my own resolutions:
1. Spend less time on my phone and more time out in the real world
2. Go to therapy regularly and work on my healing journey with more commitment
3. Work on my self confidence (that ties up with 2.)
4. Finish everything that I start (books, projects ect...)
5. Practice gratitude more regularly.
I know I have others but i dont want to set unrealistic expectations by giving myself a list of new stuff to do and set myself for disappointment. If I can achieve even just one of those things by the end of the year, I'll be happy. And If I can't, there's always 2019.
@WaterLily16
Oo, so proud and thank you for supporting me! It's great when we don't set unrealistic expectations as it can cause us to feel let down by ourselves for not reaching Mars when we can really only reach the moon.
I love your resolutions a ton as they're very positive for wellbeing and they're not blown out of proportion :)
So glad to hear you're going to be doing some resolutions and I hope all goes well and makes the year go smoother
I'm sure you'll have no trouble at all showing the year what you're made of!
@TheHoneyDoll
'lo HoneyDoll and all!
That's a great resolution! I struggle a lot with writing creatively. X_X; It's fun to do but I have essays, articles, etc. waiting for me. Or life gets in the way of an ending or beginning of my stories. Blarg, being consistent! Good luck with your goal. <3 I hope you dive right in and release that creativity into the world.
I made a resolution to become a healthier(Mental/Physical/Spiritual) person this year. To be able to conquer my fears and sit with my anxiety and emotions. To finally get out of this agoraphobia and get further out of my trauma. I also aim to be more straightforward and transparent even though it kinda scares me. Concerning this, I've already made progress on all these. I actually made a marriage counseling appointment all on my own and even negotiated payment. Man, the session was intense... but I really like the lady who does it. She's firm but puts things gently and is very easy-going. I stepped up and brought things to the forefront that were very uncomfortable. Stated my intentions, and even challenged some statements. Holy carp. I couldn't believe it was ME sitting there saying these things. X_X; So that seems to be going well. I guess. lol
@CaloenasNicobarica
Thank you so much for the encouragement! It's awesome to find another person who write creatively and it can definitely be tough to keep up with stories sometimes but in the end, even short poems can lead to improvement :) Just need that writer's block to stop lol.
You have an amazing goal for the year looking forward so I applaud that! ^^ And from the sounds of it, it's going really well too which is amazing. I hope the counseling goes well for you in the long run and that you reach where you want to be this year in 2018. I'm sure you'll do great! 💕
Hey, I hope your year is starting off well.. My new years resolutions are to work harder, continue my study in a bachelor degree and go on more road trips (because I love driving)... This year has started with many ups and downs already (and its only day 4!!) But i've also made a huge breakthrough yesterday something I'm quite proud of myself for.. I'm also glad I found 7cups especially this forum because I feel more supported than i have ever felt in my life.. So thank you heaps to the team and members here for being so kind and caring
I feel i will probably make more breakthroughs this year and another resolution is I want to work on forgiveness (especially self-forgiveness) so i shall see how this plays out..
Haha I meant community not forum.. Is what happens when its 1am and exhausted from a long chaotic day at work lol
@calmLake1999
Hiya there and thanks for checking in!
You have some amazing goals for the year and it's so awesome to hear that you're pursuing a bachelor's and going on road trips. I love driving too, especially since I got my license in August last year so I would like to visit the great sand dunes again and maybe see New Mexico since they're nearby :) I'm planning on flying to Iceland next though for family this summer. I hope all goes well for you with your goals! Do you have any specific places you would like to go and see?? <3
I'm so happy to hear that the community is a great support for you! We do our best to make it a safe, loving, supportive environment for everyone and we learn to grow as well while we help others. ^^
Have an amazing day today and best of luck to you for 2018! Hope you get some good rest after your long day of work.
@TheHoneyDoll
I have many places i want to see.. Just recently I actually went on a holiday (first time in my life) down to Tasmania and it was so beautiful there, i think i really found some peace and tranquility, plus i found a love for adrenaline while there hehe i ziplined which was terrifying and exhilarating.. I hiked alot also and got some breathtaking views (unfortunately ended the trip with a sprained ankle and chipped off part of the bone but oh well it made a good story when i went back to work lol).. I want to travel around Australia and then want to travel overseas perhaps to London but I shall see...
I'm a creative writer too, honeydoll! I started the goal last year of writing a little each day instead of saving it all for the weekend after my long work week. This year though - and this may not seem to be a simple goal but it is and I'll explain why after - is to be able to reconcile or link my dissparite feelings of love and extreme disappointment for my mother. Before she passed, I had forgiven her, truly forgiven her, even though she was never able to admit poisoning my life due to her own cognitive distortions. But, this relationship pours into all my creative writing and I don't know how to link it, how to get away from just writing about the poisoning or just writing about the love. Dang it - I would want it to integrate, perhaps not logically, but integrate and quit playing bumper cards in my mind!!!

@oakhenge
I can understand that :) A lot of my feelings have dripped into my writing over the years through both sad times and good times but many of my published pieces have been melancholic and subconsciously reflected the poor relationships I've been through that left me where I am today.
I find writing to be therapeutic for me since I feel like I can see the thoughts in a physical form and spill them out and it can really show me how I'm truly feeling deep down then I can go from there in figuring out what's hurting the most or what feels the best lately.
You have a wonderful goal Oak and I wish you the best of luck with it! Have an amazing day and an even better year! Thanks for checking in ^^ It was a pleasure to read what you had to say.
