I Don't Understand Why! Why us?

My name is Haleigh, I'm an 18 year old Native American.

My sisters and I were abused by our step-dad. I was 7, my sisters were 5 and 4. And his innocent son was born in 2005.

It started with him yelling at us when our faces faced the direction of the TV. He even watched our younger sister bathe to make sure she was washing up, when she wasn't, he would go into the bathroom and yell at her. My other sister and I were in my room when we heard her crying and gurgling water.

It got worse when we moved into his dad's old trailer house. He made us sleep straight and we were not allowed to move, we had to wait for him to wake up, he would stand in the doorway of our bed room and stand there, if we moved or even check if he was still there, he would kick us and tell us to go back to sleep. We had to ask him to get a drink, he would make us stand up against the wall with our noses touching the wall. If we got snot or spit on the wall, he would hit us. He called us stupid bitches, morons, worthless, and dumbasses.

We had to practically serve our younger brother. And he grew up watching his dad treat us like shit he bullied us and we fought back, his dad would blame us and he gets away with it.

I tried to commit suicide at the age of ten. My younger sister was recently diagnosed with depression, the youngest one out of us hates taking showers and baths. It's subconsciously in the back of her mind, what he did to her.

Hi Haleigh. So sorry you had to go through an abusive childhood that left you and your sisters damaged. It's natural to look for a "Why", but personally I think that sometimes there just isn't any deeper meaning. Your stepfather sounds like a controlling and violent guy who gets some kind of kick out of having power over others. He would have done that with anyone in your position, it was just unfortunate for you and your sisters that you were the ones who ended up at his mercy. Healing from this kind of trauma takes time and work. It's easier when get support, and I hope you're finding some here and/or elsewhere.

Oh no, I am sorry to hear that you and your sisters have gone through so much trauma. As the other poster in this thread has said, it is easy to want to know why. But with these types of people, they don't tend to have a clear why, other than they like to exert power over others. It is understandable why all of this would affect you.

I also hope you and your sisters are able to get the support that you are seeking and be able to put all of these horrible things behind you.

I know my profile currently says not taking chats, but feel free to send me a message. -safe hugs-
