Hey I'm Echo I'm 15 years old I've never been to a therapist (Im scared to go) ( TW!.. please don't read this if you get triggered easy) When I was 6 I was at a hotel with a family friend my mom and her boyfriend ( she is still married to my dad she was cheating) well the family friend like her boyfriend and he had told her he'd never like her and him and my mom left the room after they had left she made me go in her purse and hand her a box cutter knife and she had used it on her arm I took it away but she made me give it back (she's ok now) it plays in my head when I get reminded I feel everything I felt then I'm not sure if this is PTSD and I haven't spoken to anyone about it. Is it normal to feel like this, has this happened to anyone else?

Sorry for the long passage I'm new to this app

@Echo321
Friend - welcome here.
Talk here to a listener or to a therapist (not dangerous).

@Echo321 Yes, it does sound like mild PTSD, but it's not possible to make a formal diagnosis on the Internet.

Speaking to a therapist or counsellor about it would almost certainly help. The good ones are not scary at all.

By the way, while you are still a teen you cannot speak to a therapist here on 7 Cups, but there are other websites where you can find therapists for teens.

You can certainly speak to a listener here, though. If you'd like to chat to me about it, just click on my profile picture and message me.

I'm sorry you had to see that. My own mother use to self harm and I witnessed her taking a knife to her wrist several times and once to her own throat (she lived). It's alot to take in, and as a child seeing that, you don't get over that easily. Don't be afraid to seek out a therapist, they are there to help you. It's a safe space to let out your pain.
