First Panic Attack in Years...

It's been a long time, many many years since I've had a panic attack but...

Just had one recently.

Nothing really triggered it, I think?

Back then, certain things would trigger my panic attack, things that flare up my PTSD however... This was out of nowhere.

I haven't been feeling well lately and...

I sat still for a while, trying to recover from some pain and I felt my body sort of "levitating" or "floating".

Then the next minute I'm panicking and crying, pulling my hair and hyperventilating... It was strange.

I'm used to extreme pain, especially since I have been living with chronic pain for years, maybe... It's due to the type of pain I'm enduring this time?

I haven't felt this specific type of pain in the while.

I usually deal with back pain, but this is something different and felt much MUCH more painful -- a pain that I haven't felt in years since...certain events.

I wonder if my subconscious or body remembered something and it triggered this panick attack?...

Hello, I am so sorry that after years of not being bothered by these attacks, they have suddenly occurred. It is quite possible for something in your brain to have been triggered. Trauma has a way of remaining in the body if it has not been adequately dealt with. Examples can be a smell, a noise, a word, and many other things that the brain has associated with the trauma.

My first suggestion would be to tell your Physician about this to ensure that it is not a medical issue; you also mentioned that you felt as if you were floating; this could have been some Disassociation. There is a book entitled The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma.

Book by Bessel van der Kolk

 You can find an audiobook that may be free to listen to or get this book.   I hope that you soon feel better and thank you for having the courage to seek support. We are here for you whenever you need support❤️

@WorkingitThrough2 Hello, I appreciate your comments as always! Currently seeking a new provider, the one I had dismissed all of my concerns... I also have to find a new therapist as well, just doing a little research. I'll have to check out that book, thank you for the recommendation! :)

@ImpudentIncognito

You are more than welcome ❤️. Thank you for reaching out. It seems to be getting harder to find just the right doctors and Therapists these days. Just don't give up. I hope that you are able to find someone to listen to and take your concerns seriously.😊.

I am not sure if you know whether they offer therapy here on the site or not. However, there is a fee for this service.😊, Happy New Year to you!
