Nightmares about the abuse after 19 months free
I still have vivid haunting nightmares recounting the 2 years of domestic violence I escaped from 19 months ago. I am terrified to sleep most nights and have developed insomnia.

Hello, I am glad you are here❤️. I am sorry you are struggling with PTSD and insomnia. Unfortunately, trauma has that effect. I resonate well with the inability to sleep. So, I can tell that you are still having unresolved trauma responses. Are you getting Professional help with this?. It is extremely hard to treat your own self with trauma issues.
I am glad that you reached out and we are here for you as you journey the pathway to healing😊❤️
I unfortunately am not currently working with a professional since I cannot afford it and any who accept my insurance are an hour away or not accepting new patients. 😒
I am so sorry to hear that. This nightmares you are talking about seem to have a large impact on you. Please know that you are always welcome here to share what you are going to through. Even though I can imagine these nights are tough, you don't have to go through all of this alone. ❤️
Love,

Hello, I think I know how suffocated and overwhelmed that you may be feeling at the moment. I remember getting those detailed nightmares when I was dealing with traumas in my childhood too. Unfortunately, nightmares and insomnia come hand-in-hand. I never got the professional help during those times either, as I was too young, my doctor couldn't prescribe any medication for me.. and once I was old enough, other mental illnesses have developed and I was pretty much ignored by my family that I was suffering. So, with the medications, I didn't get it until a decade after all the trauma.
I remember those nights with the horrific nightmares.. I'd sometimes wake up in sweat, or in the middle of a trauma that seemed so real that I look around to see if I'm still in my own bedroom, then be afraid to fall back asleep.
If you are comfortable with your family doctor, maybe you can have a chat with her/him. See if they have other suggestions to help you. Not knowing which country you are in, but at one point, dealing with my trauma, a psychologist once applied for a Crime Victim program for me, where once it was approved, I was entitled to get 10 free 1-hr sessions. I didn't have any medical insurance back then either, so my parents paid for me.
I know that it's difficult to function in the day, when you've had nightmares in the night. That fear of sleeping feeds into the result of getting insomnia. If you're comfortable, you may share your nightmares here.. maybe we can try an interpret them together. One of my psychologists, have once told me, that my nightmares was my subconscious mind trying to solve the problem or nightmares.. telling me what I could do. As the troubles we encounter during the day, consciously, if it cannot be solved, our subconscious minds will try and problem-solve in our sleep. Sometimes they are nightmares, other times they can be good dreams too.
