Over defensive behaviors

I began to notice that whenever anyone had a different view to mine and we were just casually discussing this, whether this was related to self love, feminism or anything else, I got hyper vigilant and defensive really quickly, even if the other person wasn't really forcing their views on me. Sometimes, i was also rude. Also, I have this correlating tendency to accept any new views that come my way even if I don't personally agree with them. It's hard to explain, but it's like whenever I hear something controversial, without even thinking about it, I accept it as the truth and go into nearly traumatic existential crisises. I'm really confused about the root cause of this because my parents never showed me any over controlling tendencies, or at least I don't think so. Can anyone help me with the root cause and some tips for this kinda stuff?

Becoming defensive in supporting our views is common. Some even are rude about it. I feel sometimes it is not about the other persons view,  but a person worried their view may not be as solid as we once thought.   NO one like to admit if something they believed was based on partial or inaccurate information.    It shows you are  more open then many  to ask about this.

I have found just staying neutral when talking and if something really is different view maybe asking for more information about it can defuse any disagreement.   I say things like "interesting i will think about that"   instead of telling them they are wrong or misguided etc.
