@audienta

Hi, thanks for posting this., I would like to see an area to learn and interact on specific topics that deal with Trauma. with assignments to do together.

Not sure how to get it organized but it is a thought😊

@WorkingitThrough2

That's what we had for a short time with the weekly check-ins. I'm open to giving it another try.

Otherwise, we already have a masterpost with a lot of posts on trauma-related topics. You can find it here: Masterpost: Posts of the Trauma Support Writing Team

@audienta

That is not what I meant; My thoughts go back to a workbook interaction type of post for people who would have daily instructions or assignments, sort of like a classroom. I may not be explaining it right.

Sort of like the live chats for the Trauma Support Room, but this would be geared toward an interactive lesson for everyone to answer and or do.😊

@WorkingitThrough2 and @Audienta - hi working :) I'm not sure if you are meaning it this way, but there was a time that we had a sort of 'book club' almost - with a trauma therapy workbook thingy.  I was not super involved with that and I know it's been years ago.  I'm not sure how long you've been around here, working.  or Audienta.  Is that something y'all remember?  Is that more like what you're looking for, @working?  Please do feel free to PM me if you have questions or etc. :)  hugs!  Platy

Yes we did! The trauma team ran one with the coping with trauma related dissociation book. We would meet once a week in a room to discuss the progress of each chapter. If I remember correctly, those in the group had badges to allow them to enter. They had to limit the new people coming in so that we didn't have to keep going back to the begining again for new starters. Then we had someone on the trauma team who lead, another listener, and myself providing lived experience. I'm sure there were other groups but that was the one I remember. I miss my old friends from back then 💜

Okay, I understand. I can for sure look into doing a project like that. I personally don't have a workbook like that, does one of you?

I think the got parts book would be helpful. It's not too triggering and was helpful and short. I think it is out of print now but I have a pdf version if you are interested?

@LifeIsMyCanvas

That is good. I have the book, but not the workbook. I have The Body Keeps the Score Workbook, Stop the Violence Workbook,😊 and the  Me, Not Me, and We By Emma Sunshaw. I think that these books are not triggering.

I may have a few others that I can look for.

I don't want to wallow in the subject of my trauma, but I do feel the need to tell my story and have people listen.  I want to be understood.  I read some things that say it doesn't matter if people understand you, but I still want to be understood.  One problem with this, too, is that trauma stories can get graphic.  I don't want to upset anyone, so warnings would be necessary to give people the option of reading the posts or not.

@WharfRat I actually think bearing witness to what we went through and having others bear witness as well is a really important part of healing. Maybe we can find a way to do this that is really helpful.

@WharfRat

Hey Wharf,

In the list of written posts, you can see that we've already posted personal stories. I think it can be very helpful. So, if you want to post your personal story too, please pm me! We can work together, for example, I can help you find out how detailed/graphic the content can be.

Take care,

audienta

@audienta

I've posted my story, but I there was little feedback, if any.  What I meant here was to maybe have more of a discussion about our stories.

@WharfRat

Hm, I'm not sure if that's possible. We can't force people to read certain posts. But you can share your story in certain group support sessions or with a listener.

I don't want to force anybody to do anything, I'd just like to be noticed.  Nobody takes my trauma seriously.

@WharfRat

I totally get that and I'm sorry that you feel like nobody takes your trauma seriously. I just meant that I'm not able to make more people see your post. But like I've said, you can talk to peers in the group support sessions or to a listener who will give you the attention you deserve.

I feel much the same way. I want to be able to share y traumatic experiences with someone, but I don't want to trigger anyone.

@WharfRat I meant to say my not y. I wish I could edit typos.

There is an exercise called a trauma map...it's really a way to talk about what happened and how it shows up in your life today. It can help you see things you may not see now. It can give you more handles. But what I'm wondering is if there is a way for us to create a post or like a room with a link in this room? where anyone who wants to post their trauma map and it can be like a place where we bear witness for each other.

@LightDancer

Do you mean a thread like this where everyone could post their trauma map? We could certainly do that. Would you be open to sharing some resources on it with me in the pms?

Here are a few topic ideas for your posts:

1. **Self-Care Techniques**: Share different self-care techniques that can help individuals cope with stress and anxiety. This could include mindfulness exercises, physical activities, or creative outlets.

2. **Understanding Trauma**: Educate the community about what trauma is, its potential effects, and the importance of seeking help.

3. **Success Stories**: Share stories of individuals who have successfully overcome trauma. This can provide hope and inspiration to others.
