When will the memories stop haunting me?

I feel like half of me died. The other half turned into a different person. When will the pain ever brake?

I’m starting to allow myself to work through what happened because I haven’t processed what happened yet. This is unbearable. How do I stop the intrusive, spiraling thoughts?

@goldenCherry425

I'm sorry this has happened to you. It's not fair. You shouldn't have to be dealing with these horrific thoughts.

I'm hoping that you have therapy. Or at least are talking to your doctor. The stuff you are dealing with is a little above the pay grade of volunteers on the Internet.

But I know how it is. Therapy isn't a "do it and immediately feel better" solution. There's many other hours of the week in which to feel so alone with the thoughts. If sharing here can help you feel any less alone, please we are here for you.

Thank you. Yes, I am getting help but in between those sessions can be really tough. It’s nice coming here,

Hello,

It seems like you have been through a lot. It sounds exhausting when you can’t seem to get a break from them. You don’t have to navigate all of this alone. This is a space where you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, at your own pace. We are here to listen, if you allow us to. 💙

How have you been holding up lately?

I’ve been doing something called ART with my therapist. It’s a little like EMDR in that it uses bilateral eye movements. The therapist gives me prompts and I replay the scene. That’s continued until it’s eventually faded. It seems to be working.

@SensitiveTortise1977 That's really interesting. This is the first time I've heard of such treatment.

@goldenCherry425 It's a step in the right direction that you've begun trying to work through what happened. Trauma is difficult. The spiraling thoughts have come for me as well. So I do understand the longing to be free of it, as it's incredibly consuming.

Overtime, the thoughts can be managed through treatment. I'm also a listener here on 7 cups and am open to holding space for you if you need it.

Thank you for having the courage to share this with us. 💗

@goldenCherry425 The pain breaks when you draw a line in the sand tonight and let yesterday be yesterday. Forgetfulness is bliss for bad vibes.
