TW: SA - Reflection
I have been reflecting on my childhood and i definitely think that boundaries were crossed with some family members. For the longest I remember feeling uncomfortable with admitting it to myself and now I am kind of glad that I do.
My biggest issue right now is I feel like I owe everyone that knowledge but I genuinely don’t care to tell anyone in my life except for like a professional. I want to heal from it on my own terms without having to feel like some victim by others.
I’m posting because I want people to know that your story isn’t less valid or less heroic because you did not express it publicly to people in your life. You are the only one you should seek validation from and especially when SA is something that is extremely common. You do not owe anyone anything except for yourself. You owe yourself strength, dignity, and resilience.
If anyone out there is struggling with that part as well, just know I am here to listen because speaking with a stranger is more impactful at times that having to explain yourself to friends or family.
Thank you, I am in the way of processing something that might have happend in my early childhood (around 3-4 years and I got the feeling that was my uncle), I discovered I have a scar in my intimate area and had a lot of nightmares. I didn't tell anyone I know, I fear that my friends will tell my parents or that they won't understand me (as I don't have any memories of what happened) and I don't feel good telling my parents (I am 15, so if I tell a therapist/teacher/counselor/doctor they have to tell my parents and process a demand or legal procedures).
