You’re a Survivor!
What would you say to someone who believes that the abuse they received was their fault? How would you convince them otherwise?

I often hear from ppl's that it's not my fault but idk why i can't convince myself with that...!!! i can't stop blaming myself :( ( i honestly have no proper reason )
I'm looking forward to other's replies to this post ❤️

I struggle with this myself… *hugs* <3
It depends on the person, but it's important for them to know that what they had to deal with isn't normal, that they deserved better, no one deserves that abuse, and probably also that they shouldn't make excuses for their abuser at their own expense.
I know how it feels. I’ve been through this very recently. I am so confused, trying ti figure it out what happened and I blame myself. I feel like it was my fault even when I know it wasn’t.

It’s not your fault ❤️ There is nothing you could have done or said that justifies someone abusing you. Even if you reacted in a way you are not proud of, the abuse was not your fault.
Part of the abuse is often being told it's your fault. "You made me" "If you wouldn't have". It's how they shift the blame and gaslight victims. It's how they try to control you. It's how abusers excuse their behavior.
No one deserves to be abused ❤️

When you were abused as a child, it was not your fault. You were an innocent victim who was taken advantage of when you were an innocent child. Please never blame yourself for what happened to you when you were a child. There was nothing you could have done to stop what happened to you. You were told by your perpetrator that you would get in trouble if you told anyone what happened. They lied to you because if you had told another adult, the person who abused you would have been in trouble by being arrested by the police. Instead, you, the victim, had to live with a horrible secret until one day much later in life you recalled the buried secret you have kept from everyone.
I would say, "You are not responsible for what happened to you. You are only responsible for your own recovery. If I see the person who did that to you, would you like me to take care of it?" When I first heard these words, it was clarifying and strengthening. You mean, I didn't do it? And you care? And my brain shifted.
