How do I forget it?
I'm new to here, I'm looking to talk to someone who has been through a physical ordeal. My doctor diagnosed me with ptsd and I've been in therapy for a while now but I want some help on how to move past the memory of the pain. The physical pain, not the mental pain. I suffered at the hands of people I trusted. I was tortured, of a sort, for 6 hours. The pain was so intense I blacked out most of it and I can't touch my husband anymore without remembering the agony. We haven't had any intimacy in 4 years. I just want to forget the pain and let him close again. I was hoping there was someone who had been through an assault, car accident or war injury or something like that here who could tell me how they moved past it. I didn't die that day but at the time I wished I would so that it would stop.
@Elizabuffyf Hi! I haven't been through anything like that myself, but I know therapists (in real life, not here at 7 Cups) who know how to treat PTSD so that someone can move past memories of a very serious traumatic event.
It's my understanding that there are two standard but slightly different approaches that therapists use. Both approaches work quite quickly in most cases. I wonder which of the two approaches your therapist has been using.
As you've been in therapy for a while now, but you're still seeking help to move past the memory, it sounds like whatever therapy you've had didn't really work. That makes me think maybe a different therapist who uses the other approach (whichever one you haven't tried) might be more successful.

Hi dear
I was messed up physically by a doctor, my muscles will never be the same. It was after a birth if you get my drift. They ‘punished’ me. It took years to fully recover from the memories. Even though I count myself recovered I have to still stay in control when the memories come back. I saw an herbalist first for my healing and she recommended some homeopathic remedies that helped a lot. I found a midwife I could talk to who would understand my pain and give me advice. I then had to become comfortable in my own skin again, I would pray while I cleaned or put salve on the wounds and speak healing over them. If you want to talk more, I don’t mind swapping stories privately or talking one on one. I hope this helps. It takes different things in their time.
I have had multiple traumas and can relate. I think maybe you should look into EMDR. Your therapist should be able to direct you to someone that performs it in your area.
I’m so sorry, that must be such hell. I don’t have any experience myself but I just finished reading this fantastic book called “the body keeps the score”, and it contains examples of stories like yours. Wishing you all the best

I haven't read this one yet, I'm on a virtual waiting list to get access to the E-book, but my therapist and my friends who I have disclosed my trauma to have recommended it.
That is a GREAT book for trauma
I have the condensed version on an app. I’d be happy to send you the screenshots while you are waiting for the full version

That is so kind, thank you. My estimated wait time is only another couple of weeks, so I think I am good, but I do appreciate the offer.
