My dad married this new woman when I was about 7 or 8 years old and I wasn't allowed to see my real mom my whole life my parents would fight and accuse each other of crap. When I moved i with her I was about 8 yrs old and she told me my dad wasn't my real dad and that he never would be and that if I told him she said that he wouldn't believe me. I was emotional abused every day of my life and screamed at. She would talk about how serial killers all had reasons and she would sometimes put her hands on me. My dad wouldn't come home some nights and now when I hear someone who has a similar voice to her I freak out. When I was about 11 years old I moved in with my grandmother and she seems to hate me. She will scream at me and tell me I'm lazy and say I'm a bitch if I use the bathroom when she needs to. When I first moved in she told me not to eat so much or I would get fat she made crude comments on how my body was shaping. She picks my brother as her favorite and compares me to my stepmom but as long as it isn't as bad as when I was with my stepmother I don't care though.my dad will sneak and meet her but he doesn't know I know that..

@BrianMyers

Dear Brian:

Welcome to the Traumatic Experiences Support Community !

I'm sorry for all you have been through.

Sadly, there exist people with severe emotional problems that have kids (sometimes they later make a new couple with someone similarly troubled, like your father with your step-mother) and then their daughters and sons suffer from being trapped in a dysfunctional, even violent household.

I encourage you to find a therapist and do Therapy if you can.

In any case, participate as much as possible in as many 7 Cups Support Group-Chats as you can HERE, choose a Listener HERE and participate often in this SubCommunity.

This is a very safe place, a community made by caring people.

You can write in any way you like, don't wait until you "learn how to do it" Just post anything you want to share, as it comes to your mind.

From what you say, I suggest that, besides this PTSD Forum, you post your experience in the "Domestic Abuse & Child Abuse" Forum (that deals with childhood traumas) HERE

There are very knowledgeable members participating in both Forums, that can help you a lot.

Then, participate regularly in the daily Check-In section, which you will find pressing the oval button "Checkin Today..." HERE In these Check-ins is where you will meet people from the whole Community. And practice and learn new things along the way.

The more actively you participate in these forums, the more you will benefit from all the great knowledge and support this Community can offer you.

Please come back to me by posting here in case you have any questions.

I wish you all the best !

Marcelo
