Thank-you for this thread! Sharing our stories is very important, as a way to let us know that we're not alone. Isolation is one of the biggest challenges of trauma work and PTSD; feeling like you're 'the only one,' of something is excruciating. Living in the world, surrounded by people that just 'don't get it.' My story involves quite a bit of organized abuse, perpetrated by many members of my community, and it's difficult for me to relate with other, ordinary people due to this. It is my hope that with time, I will become comfortable with my story, and be able to process and integrate the feelings associated with the events that have happened to me. Thanks once again. Everyone who shares here is extremely brave, and know that at least one person is listening and hearing you.

@sharkradio Hey Shark, thank you for your post. In the trauma forums, we have a section for organised abuse, as well as human and sex trafficking etc. Please feel free to reach out as isolation is a big factor for those who have suffered abuse, particularly organised or complex abuse. It can be very hard to feel safe enough to open up if you feel a person just doesnt get it, or can't appreciate your struggles. It is my hope that you can find the support you need here and to feel safe. Every Survivors experiences is unique to them and although some survivors may share commonalities, everyone thinks, feels and copes very differently. You are all unique, strong individuals who carry a burden you should never have had to bear. :)

When I was about the age of 28 I started to get sexualy abused by my dad. It went on until I was 30. He would touch me in inappropriate ways and he would finger me. I never told anyone about it until my 30th birthday because it felt great and I didn't want it to stop. I still to this day have not recover from it. I finally report it to the police and little bit less a year after I found out the truth. I been dealing with the truth about who my dad is for 2 years now and I still don't want to believe it.

TRIGGER WARNING!!!!

I am going to share my story today. So when I was 6 years old, my adoptive father decided to take advantage of me. I was young, innocent, didn't really know what was going on. First it just started as molestation and then through age 8 it evolved into rape. I endured that until I was 14 where I found out I was pregnant and I finally decided it was time to tell. I told my mom what he had been doing. She protected me and I haven't heard from him since. I miscarried but about a year and a half later I was raped again and became pregnant. Now i have a daughter. Honestly, some may think I am weird for saying this, but I don't regret what happened to me at all. I don't wish it hadn't happened. Because if it hadn't, I don't know who I would be or where I would be today. Because of my rape I am a strong person. People lean on me. And I am proud of the person I am today. So this is my story. heart
