The Sexual Abuse That I Never Expected to Happen to Me
I still remember her full name, birth year, and birth month. She is almost a year older than me. It may have only been one incident with her in particular, but this one incident left me traumatized.
Yet absolutely no one took it seriously, including even my mother and my so-called "friend" that I had at the time. Everyone just laughed at me...or at least, most people did.
But I truly thank God that there was at least one other kind woman who fully believed me, took me seriously, and never laughed when I told her about the incident from the very beginning. She even helped me alert others, because I was so shocked that I simply couldn't bring myself to do it.
It was just me and the woman abuser alone together when this incident happened. And you wanna know where this all happened? The *** psych ward, of course.
Both the woman abuser and I were psych ward patients. I had to sleep in a bed that was next to this other patient at night, along with 3 other women in the room, because staff never took my incident seriously. There was no cameras in the rooms, after all, and of course on top of all of that, the majority of the staff simply thought that I was "faking it all."
I really hate that this happened to me.
@angelcorexoxo
That is disturbing....... wow One would believe if in a setting like that you would be safe... but obviously not
Did you or can you still file charges or at very least warn staff that an abuser is among the patients.
@angelcorexoxo I can imagine what you feel very good. I was abused by a woman too, when I was 19yrs old. I was physically assaulted and forced to let several things happen, that felt for my like being rap*d. I belive you. You´re not alone.
@angelcorexoxo
I am so very sorry that happened to you, I know it has been several years since the incident, but there are laws in every state that, if you look up your state and the legal time limit on reporting rape has increased. I know that there is a bit of shame connected with telling our truths, but if you think this is something you want to pursue, this is a crime, and the Statue Of Limitation may still be able to file charges.
However, this is about you and your desire. I don't know if you see a Therapist or not, but that might be a good step if you can. Abusers want you to feel intimidated and ashamed, so you keep the secret.
As long as you hold that inside you, it will torment you, but if you are able to face the fear and all the other emotions that go with being sexually assaulted, that is ok too. But talking about uncovers the secret which has tormenting memories that plague us. I have experienced sexual assault, but I do go to a therapist, and yes, it is hard to talk about, but it is also very freeing if you can.
It does not matter whether other people believe you or not, this is your truth, and I validate you and your truth. You did not deserve this, and I am sorry that not even the staff believed you may be they were afraid because it happened on their watch. Be safe, and do get counseling if you can❤️.
