24 years later..
I most recently experienced some triggers after bringing it up in a few vlogs that some "friends" pulled some cruel jokes on me before, during, and after the jr. prom. It was after I recorded and posted them that I felt angry about what happened.
Since then, I have been working through what happened with a counselor along with realizing that those kids were never my friends. As we both discussed, they had been bullying me all through the school year.
@Summershy
i hope this counselor helps you move on .......
can i ask why is this still bothering you?
i know to some it sounds uncaring ..............but in reality there should be like a statute of limitations on how long someone holds onto a situation.......
I could think up some item from way back that was very devastating at the time ..........but the reality if i was put in a room with this person i doubt i could even pick them out of a crowd so why would i let a past cruel comment scar me now........ it would be like picking at a scab continually so would never heals

Here is the problem: I thought I had moved on as I don't really think about prom that much anymore. What happened is that I stuffed the situation down. Those feelings only came back when I started talking about what had happened.
Why does it bother me? Well, I really wanted it to work out for us to be friends. It was even harder because they kept jerking me around.
As for the kids that bullied me, I haven't talked to any of them in years, and nor do I want to. Looking back, we were not compatible.

I also miss spoke, when I mean "Since then," I referred to since I recently created the vlogs. Though I did cry about what happened for a long time, I haven't given it much thought.
I had not officially talked with my counselor about these students in middle and high school until last week. I really had not ever had the chance to process what happened then until now.
@Summershy
Im sorry you went through that, that's awful. Even after years of something happening, there can still be triggers. I do hope this counsellor manages to help you deal with it and cope through the emotions that have arisen from this.
@MusicLeigh
Yes, me too. The sad part is these were students who I attended special education with. So you would have thought they would have been accepting and kind. However, they were just as immature and insecure as any other kid in high school.
